Gralloch, head and legs dispoal

Hello,

I've been given a new permission but the landowner doesn't want the gralloch, legs and head left on the land. On other permissions I normally ensure these are tucked away out of sight and let nature take its course but any ideas on how these could be disposed of? Its predominately fallow deer so not exactly small items.

Thanks

Black back and local refuse tip general waste

If have dogs take the stomach and empty on site ...
Take home and hose till clean or if stream on ground wash it out bag separate keep in bucket of cold water and throw bits down to the dogs ... go mad for it

Dogs always get the feet and majority of bones (not all at once!). Empty the stomach etc of contents. Liver and kidneys go for eating anyway (assuming clean etc). Heavy duty bin bag for the rest incl. the spine.

Thanks for the info everyone. The landowner has a huge hang up about anything being left behind. He was/is very anti shooting and I'm the first stalker to be on the ground in 30 years so very keen to stick to his requests and give a good impression of stalkers. Sadly not a dog owner either.

It does seem silly to turn a perfectly biodegradable mass into plastic wrapped landfill but until I find a better solution its black bin bags.

Best practice grallochs take place away from water courses, rinsing anything other than your hands & knife, I think not.

The act of gralloch & beast itself no where near a water course, I never said it was ,
but I will stop on my way back and wash my knife ... and rinse the emptied separate bagged stomach in a water course

Sounds like you have been lucky to get this permission, so you will need to make sure that you don't give any reason to lose it. I would leave the head and legs on as it will be easier for transporting on the carcase, just gralloch and bag up the contents in a good sturdy bag. As said previously no issue with disposing this in your normal bin other than hot weather.

All gralloch comes away and is incinerated. Not ideal to get rid of the waste in your household bin. Can’t speak for the rest of the Uk but where we are we have food waste caddy for all food generated waste and they are small. If you can get rid of it in the bin then good luck to you but the waste streams are changing in the Uk so it won’t last long we get a rather strongly worded letter from the local authority if we put our bins out the night before collection!!!! Also had a sting letter stating that some of my waste was put in the wrong bins so there checking what we Luzz away

If your just grassing one or two beasts a year or 20, best to keep everything 100% use a tarp to gralloch over - I use a drag box under a beast on a suspended gralloch, gralloch into that then double bagged to go to incinerator minus the bits I want for the dog - never give anyone an excuse to not like what your doing

My main lease I take between 50-60 fallow off per annum, I have a contract to collect the locked bin every time it is used, by phoning the waste contractor , nothing is left behind it’s a extra cost which is worth every penny

If the landowner has specifically asked for the ground to be left as you found it, always do more than he requests then you have no problems to run up against, the easiest way to lose a permission is to act without care - keep it tidy - the landowner will know he’s got the right guy looking after the deer full stop

Dispose of unwanted waste responsibly

Who do you use for your waste collection and what are the rates like?

I have a dried out cow frame, its basically a natural weather tanned hide over the skeleton. Her own guts have long gone and today I gave her an infill of sambar guts...and set traps for dogs.

I bet your landowner would arc up over that ha ha.
