Reloading FPS

I’m away at the moment so I don’t have the book that I wrote it down in, but of the top of my head it read 2740 FPS 3 times and 2 miss reads
My thinking on this is that it's unlikely to have read 2740 three times. If you what you noted was the average of three recorded shots, and two were misreads for whatever reason (odd light, muzzle-blast, whatever), then it's possible that of the three recorded shots one or two recorded erroneously low for the same reason that two didn't record at all, thus throwing the average?

Get yourself out to 300 meters and see what the drop is based on your 100 meter zero. Then work that back using the correction factor on an APP like Strelok Pro and work out what the real velocity is. That will tell you whether the Chronograph is reading correctly or not.

And this

I would also suggest the chrono. However, there is also an outside chance your measuring is an issue. You say you don't like the Lee balance scales? I have a set, and found that they were not zeroed correctly when I was given them. Make sure they calibrate correctly, using the empty pan and all the settings dead on zero. Make sure they read absolutely cock-on before you use them, and check the sliding window is on yor chosen value.... it's all too easy to msread them if yo aren't used to them.

I'd suggest checking your chrono with factory ammunition. That way, at least you can be confident you're a) using ammo that you know is safe (not to imply your loads necessarily aren't), and b) have a velocity baseline that you know is an established value

SHeesh!, I guess a new barrel on order before this lot is sorted then.
Yep, it’s hot and fast, but very flat with a foxing point blank of getting on for 250 yards if set up right. I used them a lot before moving onto 75 grainers. One of the reasons I’d never buy a used 243!!!
