BASC Fuel Card Scheme

BASC have a members offer re a fuel card scheme with UK Fuels.

UK Fuels currently charging £1.26/litre against my local fuel stations price of £1.32 upwards.

No hidden charges. Use their card like a credit card and pay by direct debit albeit at a greater frequency than a credit card.

There is another scheme where they offer a fixed 3p off the forecourt price which would probably be best if you lived near a cheap Tesco.

As they say 'every little helps'.

Shame I'm not a BASC member as my local (Hereford) cheap fuel is at £1.25 currently - locally in Monmouth its at £1.35 . Since I go to Hereford quite a lot its quite helpul as 10p off 40 litres mounts up.
I will make no comment about whether this is core business.

i live near a tesco and a basc member, how do i get his deal?

Be careful. This is a scheme where you essentially sign up to use a bulk buying club and agree to pay their invoices on a monthly basis.
The fact that BASC have negotiated a 'no weekly non-usage fee' and a 'no monthly card fee' there may well be other associated charges as this company has to make money somehow ?

Here is a link to their charges .... linky and their website in general linky

Personally I think BASC should concentrate on problems and issues effecting their members now and in the near future with regards to shooting and firearms/shotgun ownership, rather than getting involved in these external schemes.

Shame they don’t sort a scheme where they fight for their members interests who pay thier wages isn’t it ....

You will have to, on average, with Medicals at £50 and savings of 3 p per litre, 5000/3 which I reckon is 1666.66 litres at £1.25 = £2,083.32 to spend on fuel to recoup medical cost.
If however you have to pay £200 then you need to spend £8333.3. Happy to be corrected.

In both cases thats buying, using the card everytime.
Its clear this is a lot cheaper than a JR which BASC would pay for on your behalf.
I will be looking for a discount on stable doors before I join - there's been enough left open.

Why do people knock a scheme that saves money. Knockers you have a choice take it or leave it......... simple. It wouldn't have taken vast resources to sort the fuel card out in the first instance as I use them for my business and it was straight forward.
're medical report without help from basc I doubt I would have got a doctor to provide the report for GMP. My doctors and even private gps in my area would not entertain it!
They put me in touch with a doctor and he charged me £50 for the report.
Given what it costs to get a plumber or drain cleared £ 50 sounds good value to me.
Finally I have filled all the petitions , contacted my MP ( no reply!!). I for one value my membership if for nothing else for when sh* t happens. It like insurances you only find out how good or bad it is when something goes wrong.

It's pretty obvious really, BASC like most companies that run a number of vehicles use a fuel card scheme for sake of convenience. The more users that there are in the scheme the better the economy of bulk purchasing. BASC are simply extending the benefits of the scheme to all members and not simply restricting it to company vehicles.
