Hi, for years I have always cobbled together the above out of stuff lying around, I've used using all manner of things when zeroing in, from an old camping table which rotted away in the end, hessian sacks filled will wood chips and modified yoga sponges acting as a bench rest!

Have folks out there got a good setup which includes a table and bench rest or bag that they can recommend?

Paul'o and I have a shaped piece of 1/2" ply, half of it sits and is fixed to my ranger tailgate (open) with speed clamps.
The other part is curved in so you can get behind the rifle. A V block of timber sits in a slot for the front rest and bags to suit for the back end. In sense a bench rest table fixed to the tailgate.
Flip it over for RH/LH shooters.

A Black&Decker work mate would provide a good platform with the same type of shaped ply...

Here's mine that I knocked up. Use it with a Sandbag in the front and a 3 legged stool to sit on.
That was before I bought a LR D4 which has the tailboard specifically designed for right handed shooters ;)
Total cost about £24 for the stand at B&Q.

I made one. Very easy to do.

3/4 sheet and 4 screw in legs you can buy as a set from Ikea. Bit of piping cut to make holders and job done :thumb:

Mine has a 19mm ply top, with cut out one side to sit in. I Fixed a beading around the front & side edges to stop stuff falling off. (Nice to brace the bipod against to load it).
Canteen table folding legs work well too. Front pair as standard & the rear pair width cut & shut to allow for the narrow rear end.
Old Lidle kneeling stool to sit on.
Works well.

I use this.

Found the drawings for this on the Internet. A handy mate made it up. He used 19mm flooring sheets instead of plywood and padded the seat. It is very stable and resides outside of my garage/reloading room facing my 100m back stop.

Cheers

Have you made one of these from these plans? If so how did it go?

Yes have made a lot the first one was the hardest after that you just draw round it. They are a good bench not the best on uneven ground
Buy sheet of good plywood and a jigsaw
