New Zeiss Victory RF vs Swaro El range vs Leica Geovid

Any thoughts as I’m in the market. There is a lot on geovids with them being out so long and good info individually on el range and the new victory RFs. I think the Zeiss probably had the best capability with the app and ballistics info etc but I am also very keen on good optics. The ballistics is cool but all likely hood won’t be used much.

Also interested if anyone has gone to vortex fury’s after experience or testing of the European ones as it’s better potentially value.

I will try them all and make my own decision before you advise that but interested if anyone has first hand experience and thoughts.

I’m pretty sure there was a comparison review in Shooting Times a few months ago by Chris Parkin.
I cant remember if there was an overall winner, each seemed to have their own strengths.

IMO the packaging and ergonomics of the Zeiss lets them down
The LRF is not as accurate, even by their own data

Having tested and used them all the obvious choice was Leica

I have been using the Zeiss for the last couple of months and am really impressed with the image quality and the fact the rangefinder has given long range readings in pretty bad weather. Obviously I am not shooting that far, but mapping out ground have had no problem getting 1km+ readings off hedges and treelines. I haven't used the other to compare, but if you are going to the Forest of Dean Night Vision demo on Saturday, arrive before it gets dark and you can look through mine.

Is that ergonomic of the new Zeiss RF? They seemed good to me when i a held a pair of 8x54. The old design was very bulky and not nice to hold. Leicas also very nice though.

Yes, he has all three sets but you only ever see him with Leicas.....

I'm using the Geovid HD-B for the past 4 years and they are outstanding .... Also had Zeiss and tried Swarovski, but Leica wins all the time.

Yes I’ve found that. You getting Zeiss after selling your swaro? I held 8x54 at Franconia in Nuremberg earlier in the week and I was surprised at how manageable they felt. I was very tempted by those but you are paying a good few hundred more than 42 and I’m not sure it’s that critical

Nah not at this precise moment. I just wouldn't mind looking through a pair and seeing what they look like.

I´ve used the Leica HD-B & the El range while hunting. I sold the HD-B´s and the reason was that I liked the, in my opinion, brighter glass in the Swaros more.

I haven't tried the latest Zeiss, but when I was looking to get mine I tried the Swaro 8x42 and 10x42, Leica 8x42, 10x42 and 8x56 and Zeiss 8x45. The two best units in my opinion were the Leica 8x56 and Swaro 8x42. I would have been happy with either, but went for the 8x56 and haven't regretted it once.

I have read some pretty mixed reviews on the 8x54 and 10x54 victory HT on bird forums etc. I assume the RFs have very similar glass. I must say that when I compared the zeiss to the swaro in the shop with shop lights and about 30m of view (so not ideal) the swaro edged it. Always seems pleasing to look through. Zeiss just has so much capability than the swaro in terms of ballastics. I look for trying them all next weekend
