Dog eating lots of grass. Any thought please?

All dogs eat grass .my thoughts are as above.makes em sick and goes through them may be dislodging parasites etc.my running dog gets a growling stomach. She is straight out eating grass

Thanks for all the replies - Including the one or two "comical" ones - We all need a bit of a giggle now and then!
As it is now he does not eat anywhere near so much grass since we have changed his diet. Instead of giving him the tinned "Butchers Tripe" with his "complete mixer" we get bags of frozen beef and pork mince which the wife cooks up along with some frozen mixed vegetables and a bit of pasta. He now gets this "meat and veg mix" with the "complete mixer" twice a day which he really seems to enjoy and as a result he doesn't eat anywhere so much grass now - And as an added bonus his coat is starting to shine a lot more and he seems to be as fit as a fiddle.
He does like to show SWMBO how much he appreciates her cooking by jumping on her (All 20kg of him) and giving her loads of "kisses" while she is watching TV in the evenings as the attached photo shows. (He isn't as fat as the photo makes him look, he's got quite an athletic figure)
I realise that all dogs eat grass now and then and use it as "medicine" but the amount he was eating I had thought about renaming him "Flymo"!

Bless him.glad he is better
Thanks Steve.
He has turned out into a very good and faithful dog! He loves meeting people and other dogs and I simply can not keep him out of water whenever I take him out for a good long walk around out local reservoir. However he does however know to sit still if I am photographing anything there (Either wild birds, deer or any other wild life)
He has "run a fox" (On land where I had permission to shoot foxes where I still exercise him now and then in order to keep in touch with my farmer friends). He didn't have much of a chance of catching the fox but he was very close on it's tail when the fox managed to ground, and he didn't need any encouraging - Having said that I ought to add that I don't have him as a "working dog" - but then again I'm not going to stop him doing what is natural (In my opinion) for a lurcher type dog do as long as it is safe and legal.
He also hates rats with a passion - We have a couple of rat holes just outside our garden which he found and now every time he passes by them he will stick his head in and then try to furiously dig them out, he hasn't managed to get hold of one yet but with the power he has in his jaws (from the Staff in him) I pity any rat he did get hold of.
On the whole he is now a very happy and healthy (Lurcher type) dog who we wouldn't dream of be without now!

You might try him on the just the uncooked mince...recently I have been buying the Natural Instinct frozen stuff... it is basically mashed up carcasses so about half bone, half meat with 20% veg but Poppy has that just defrosted and uncooked. Loves it!

Lurches make fantastic house dogs.my Wheaton greyhound bitch aka tilly is so quiet round the house you wouldn't know she was there until you trip over the very long legs in the dark.you dont even feel her clime on the bed at night. Show her some thing with fur on and she turns into satan complete devil dog.wouldent be without her though

Its a system correction, and after ingestion is generally followed by spewing up a wad of grass often with yellowish mucous schitt.
It is a way of reducing excess bile I believe.
I see my three will trot a few K`s through fields then will hit a patch of the "right" grass and all will have a chew so it is selective grasses only.
My WHV does it most days spewing up bile after eating grass .
