Petition to cancel next year's NEC shooting show

Will the show’s organisers kick back against this one then? Will they ask the ‘big game/trophy hunting’ companies who were recently dropped for support?

Do pigeons come home to roost?

I to received it from change .org looks really promising with 6000 signatures  Absolute drivel as per... to be fair it is a bit boring now. Lefties rallying lefties I might make a petition my self

They already stopped the outfitters going. We just move on to another venue. It’s like going for a drink at a bar while your mate stands outside because the bouncer wouldn’t let him in

Now over 44,000 signatures. If it continues at this pace the local authority and the NEC will be up against it.
I stand corrected then. No point fighting that it will take someone with a pair of bollocks in Birmingham to laugh it off -fat chance as they don’t exist in local councils /government etc

I can’t really see how change.org is a credible petition to be fair it takes a nano second to sign without any thought of doing so. People who sign it give absolutely no thought on the matter- it’s either a tap yes or delete.

Wonder if may be some one should start a ban the ban bad tree hugging ban sitting in the middle of the road ban leaving tons of shat in London /other ban banners , but this is the UK snow flakes no ball government, our police are without teeth and a laughing stock of the public ? strong arm of the law ! its now more like limp dicks in a December out door pool ? kids running around killing just to score points that are led by face painted tosser's and grass eaters ! we don't stand a chance .
my rant .

I have been tracking this petition with concern:

Petition to Cancel the Shooting Show at the NEC

It is gaining support at an alarming rate and may force the NEC to refuse to host the Shooting Show. Although I don't plan on attending myself, I am concerned that is another stepping stone on the gradual and piece-meal destruction of fieldsports in the UK. As is the current pressure and focus on Grouse Shooting and large bag driven shoots by antis.

There is no counter petition being headed up by one of the fieldsports organisations to show how many people shoot and support the show and wider fieldsports and so I am concerned that this petition will present a false and biased representation of public opinion towards shooting. Sadly, I am becoming increasingly convinced that in the UK, shooting's days are numbered and with it we will see the loss of a cornerstone of British rural culture and a way of life for many, including myself.

What should not come as a surprise is that the internet has enabled the desires of the mob; to 'ban' anything they don't understand, or feel is undesirable. The reverse is also true, many are not only eager to follow trends but actively propagate them with little to no independent research into the matter.

Readers of Fahrenheit 451 and 1984 should be worried!

quite likely what will happen is without game keepers, landowners, farmers, stalkers, hunters, etc, and everyone else connected with preserving the countryside, poaching and general abuse will increase, quickly turning it into in a shithole just like the average layby after the pikeys have left.
and then with no further interest the developers will move in and more houses full of voters / taxpayers will be built on an already overloaded and fractured social structure, and that ol' pressure cooker is starting to bulge noticeably.

Should we all sign the petition stating some facts and how wrong they are to sign the petition. Use their forum to enlighten them about how wrong they are and ask them for a solution to 1. how to control deer population when they destroy crops/ cause accidents etc, 2. how eating the game meat which is organic/ free range bad compared to cultivated animals 3. that animals do die eventually and they usually suffer when they get older and 4. cars have killed more people in the UK than guns, so why aren't they calling cars lethal or asking for a ban of any motor shows. Thoughts?

Not sure about change .org, but the government cancelled all petitions on their own site earlier this month, as we no longer have a working government due to the upcoming election.

Because of the General Election, the closing date for the petition you signed has changed. All petitions now have to close at 00:01am on 6 November. This is because Parliament will be dissolved, which means all parliamentary business – including petitions – will come to an end until after the election. This means the petitions site will be closed and people will not be able to start or sign petitions.

We’re sorry we weren’t able to give you more notice that this would happen.

The petition will be available for people to read on the site even though it will be closed for signatures. This petition won’t be reopened after the election.

The Government can’t respond to petitions during the election period. This means if the petition has over 10,000 signatures, it can’t receive a response from the current Government after 5 November. After the election, the new Government will have to decide whether it wants to respond to petitions from before the election.

The current Petitions Committee, the group of MPs who decide whether petitions are debated, won’t exist after 6 November. This means that if the petition has over 100,000 signatures, it can’t be scheduled for debate during this Parliament. After the election, there will be a new Petitions Committee, and they will be responsible for deciding which petitions are debated.

The petitions site will open again after the election, but at the moment we don’t know exactly when. You can follow us on Twitter @HoCPetitions for updates, or check back on the petitions site for news if you prefer.

Ahead of the General Election on 12 December, make sure you’re registered to vote. You can check whether you’re eligible to vote and find out how to register at: Register to vote. The deadline to register to vote is Tuesday 26 November.

Many thanks,
The Petitions team
UK Government and Parliament

Neil.

Thing is its been tried, join their site and say anything that doesn't suit their agenda and you just get banned.

Birmingham Council still owns the FH of the NEC site but the operating asset is a private company. When it was owned by the Midlands Authorities the leader of Birmingham (Sir Dick Knowles) under party pressure (Labour) supported anti arms fair protesters, when the NEC held an Arms Fair. At the time I was negotiating a move by the Royal Armouries from London to the city. The Board of the Armouries chose to move to Leeds instead.
