Green Party desire to ban game shooting.

Just in case anyone thinks that they might want to cast a vote for the Green Party. Here's two extracts from their full manifesto.

Ban all hunting. This includes trail hunting, where dogs are used to track foxes who are then shot, and the commercial shooting of deer and game birds. Government
subsidies, used to maintain artificial landscapes designed only for hunting (such as grouse moors) will be ended and the land rewilded where possible. Where necessary for ecological reasons, humane culling will be licensed by Natural England and carried out by trained professionals. We will also ban the use of lead ammunition and outlaw all forms of snaring.

Advocate for European legalisation to end factory farming, prohibit the routine use of antibiotics for farm animals, and ban the killing of animals for sport across the EU.

However OTOH.

Scrapping the doomed HS2 rail line.

I don't kill animals for sport. I kill them to eat. I kill them to protect crops and livestock, or I kill them to manage the population of that particular species so that it remains viable and genetically healthy in a landscape ravaged by an out of control human population. Does that count?

What about ending government subsidies used to maintain artificial landscapes designed only to further the proliferation of urban man and pander to his vanities? Will those be banned too?

The "Green Party" is a misnomer. More than all the other parties, it seeks to ban things. It dismisses out of hand the fact that the grouse that inhabit our moors are not found anywhere else in the world and without management (or as they call it, rewilding) they will disappear. It ignores the advantages of lead ammunition in humane culling (although alternatives continue to improve). And it plays on the assumption that if you enjoy something (such as field sports) that makes it intrinsically wrong. So it must be done by government officials only.

I doubt that The Green Party will get any real leverage after the election. Which is a good job. Long may it continue.

"unofficial green party manifesto"

"create over 2 million poachers in one hit" :thumb:
any party who thinks they could ever implement this is seriously deluded at best and at worst know they are lying or both.
It's no more possible that stopping crime overnight.
and like most if not all these supposed "vote winning" soundbites, just unimplementable.
the manpower and resources costs will be astronomical, and once the sheeple realise who is going to be paying for it all it will soon lose its appeal.
it's nothing more than "canute politics"

I wasn't going to vote for them anyway, and if I was , I wouldn't.
A bunch of loonies , they have one MP, 2 Lords, and 7 MEP.s...................they couldn't make a decent tea party, never mind a political party, they total 10, and have joint leaders, they don't even have one person fit to lead them they have to have 2,

Why these non-descript parties who have no hope of ever forming a Govt or of holding power through a coalition , come out with these preposterous proposals beats me,

If Boris gets in and we leave the EU, the 7 MEP's will be down the labour Exchange on their bikes, I just hope the people of Brighton come to their senses and get rid of this Lame duck MP they have.

Only if you're a "trained professional licensed by Natural England", apparently.

welcome to the new china,,,apparently my colleague there tells me to be approved for his mortgage they required a credit type report on his internet viewing habits, drinking (monitored of course) and social medial ranking.

yes,,,soon enough here in the UK we all need to be licensed to take a shjite even, with green tax charge of poo weighing over 100g per sitting..LOL.. happy saturday everyone :)

Fear not chaps, we do not need to take them too seriously. They are to far away living in some kind of la la land, where Unicorns romp and sprinkle fairy dust to cure all ills. Where Foxes cuddle Chickens, Raptors are Vegan and Sheep, Pigs and Cattle roam freely over pristine lands.

In other words a total bunch of ill informed, self righteous, opinionated nut jobs. Idiots, the lot of them.

The Green Party have got as much chance of winning the election as I have of winning the jackpot on the Euro Millions Lottery! (P.s. I don't waste my money on the lottery so not really much chance of winning)
I'm sure they only formed The Green Party just so that they could feel and sound important rather than going round like a bunch of planks that talk a load of old tosh!
Dreamers the lot of them with more nipples than brain cells!:lol::lol:

"Trained" by Natural England... The mind boggles.
Mine too! Where does it say that?
I can see where it says "humane culling will be licensed by Natural England and carried out by trained professionals." I can't see anywhere where it says that that Natural England will be carrying out the training though!

Whoever it pans out to be it's unlikely to be the majority of members of SD and any other deer stalking or other shooting forum, because we won't be in possession of any firearms!

You need to read through the complete Green Party Animal Rights Policy where you'll find these two items:

AR424 The Green Party is fundamentally opposed to all blood-sports. We oppose the killing of, or infliction of pain or suffering upon, animals in the name of sport or leisure, and will work to end all such practices.

AR425 To amend the Firearms Act to prohibit the use and private ownership of firearms and lethal weapons, such as air rifles, crossbows, etc., except on registered premises.

So, under the Green Regime you can kiss goodbye to all fieldsports and your firearms.
