Honestly opinion on Swarovski Z6 5 - 30 x 50 BT

I've just been offered this scope.

I initially was after a ior recon, delta Stryker, vortex pst gen2.

You can see what style scope I like. However have always heard Swarovski being on of the best and very popular on the stalking community. I thought I might give this one a go.

I don't know much about this model or nor have experience with this type of scope.

What do you guys think ?
Would it be easy to resell it if I didn't like it?
How much do they go for or reasonable price for reselling it?

I really appreciate any of your inputs as I really don't wanna be stuck with it if I didn't like after.

This is a deal I'm considering (no money involved)

Get it! You will be daft, to pass it up! You can sell on any scope of course but quality will command a decent return on your outlay. 5-30X50 is fine for stalking just use it on the lower Mag,clarity is superb with 50. The BT is an added bonus I have one on my Swaro it does exactly what it says on the box. When you punch paper,up the Magnification to what ever your happy with and at what ever range your shooting and see the target as clear as day no problem. A resale price I would say is WELL OVER £500.

Everything you said gave me confidence until you said £500 .. well my trade with the guys are worth £1000 . He wanted £1100 cash initial

Bought a Z6i 3-18x50 from a colleague and a Z6i 2-12x50 off Ebay, both for stalking. Given the choice of one of these as an every day stalking scope, it would be the 2-12x50. The bigger scope with a BT is good for open ground, especially high seat work when you have time to dial in parallax whereas the "smaller" scope is a no nonsense, point and shoot that's good for both close cover and open ground.

See no need for such a big scope unless it's used at big distances with lots of time. Just my opinion but an experienced one.

Push for less then. The Ballistic Turret costs about a ton, remind him also that it does NOT' have an illuminated reticle.? With regards to parallax, you know when you shoot 100meters more or less for that matter, so you just dial it in. The side turret is written with the distance you choose....Good luck

I had a gen1 z6i
The glass quality was outstanding, however the BT’s were very sloppy and I had to secure them with insulation tape, the switch for the illuminated ret was all so very easily knocked on by mistake, so my battery was always dead. Not what you would except from a scope of this price bracket, I do believe both of these faults were corrected with the gen2

The Z6 with BT is worth well over 500. I have never seen one sell for much under a grand, for a quick sale maybe 800. If I Coul find a z6 for 500 I'd buy three.

Quite a BIT over £500....

Got 4 z6i and personally wouldn’t consider any other manufacturers. I’ve tried other always gone back. The gen2 is perfect and the BT easy to use and set up.
Also couple this with there absolute first class customer service (miles better than any other manufacturer) then you have a first class product, with first class back up for ever and great re sale value.
what’s not to like?

I have owned a good number of Swarovski scopes.

I like them a lot.
Good service from Swarovski when required.
I prefer non illuminated scopes.
I prefer a ladder reticle to the Ballistic Turret.

Totally agree with you on that one JCS.

I've got the 4A-300 reticle on my Z6 with 3-18 magnification.

More versatile than a ballistic turret when there are multiple targets at varying ranges. (No faffing about, dialling in).

Centre line for 100 yards, next line down for 200 yards and then further line down for 250 yards range.

Simple and effective!

I had the 5-30 Z6i, light transmission after the x15 started to deteriorate, but if you are static, doing long range stuff it was fine as the target already had the cross hair on it, I rarely used it past x12, x8/9 was about the normal. The BT was 100%, never an issue with dialing in or return to zero.
Whether it’s second hand or tenth hand, resale value will be about 60% retail value all day long.
£1100 is a fair price for the non illuminated Z6. You will sell in on easily.

Optically superb, I’ve had a couple but if you want to dial in your shots, you may find it a little frustrating, so I sold mine. Expect to get around £1000 for it, if in good condition.
The glass quality in a PST2, say, is not up there with a Z6, but plenty good enough and with nice turrets.
