Hello Everyone,

I am just starting to get involved in the shooting sports and have both shotgun and FAC certificates.

I have been clay shooting since September my Browning 525 Sporter 12g. I have managed to acquire a 170 acre permission on a friends farm for pest and vermin control, and have after beating for the season, been invited to join a syndicate in Durham where I have pest and vermin control (including deer)

I served for 9 years in the Royal Engineer Reserved and served in Afghanistan in 2009. My firearms experience mainly revolves around this and I have done some rabbiting with friends with a .22lr.

I have just gained my FAC and am looking for a .243 package, preferably Remington or Howa. (mainly as I have shot a friends rifles). I’m not looking to buy new and currently have a budget of £400.

Having had no experience with Deer I am looking at getting either a few paid stalking days with an experienced guide, or going though my DSC1 training. I don’t feel it would be fair for me to go straight after deer with no experience or knowledge on how to handle the carcass.

I am looking forward to being part of the forum.

Thanks

Welcome to SD and DSC1 is the right path in my opinion. Of course nothing matches how much you learn while you are actually out with someone more experienced. All the best.

Welcome to the site, Jon at Greenlee Deer Management might be a help starting out, one of the good guys and shouldn't be a million miles away from you:thumb:
