What would you be doing if this crisis hadn't happened?

Me?

My flight to the US was booked (thankfully fully refunded) for Tuesday next week to the US so I could spend 3 weeks with friends, shooting handgun. AR15, L1A1...

...then for July I was all set to book an eight day plains game hunt in SA.

I usually hit the US two or three times a year, with a trip elsewhere if possible but now I've written off any idea of leaving the UK for at least until 2022 because this isn't going to end any day soon.
I reckon we'll be lucky to see a British Shooting Show before 2022, never mind a trip to Las Vegas for SHOT Show.

Hopefully, we'll all be around to find out.

At our club working up loads for the 6.5 creedmoor ready for our range day at WMS in mid Wales. We're waiting on the all clear & looking forward to going hopefully sometime in the near furure.

I really didn't have any plans to go abroad (I'm not generally the planner in that department anyway). I was pretty lucky in that I like my rugby and I was able to get down to see England v Wales before the curtain came down on everything. Great weekend.

That apart, it's mostly just the small, simple things I'm missing. Not seeing the grandkids, popping out to pick up something for the latest project and calling in on a friend or eating out or grabbing a pint. Or being able to chuck the dog in the car and going somewhere, with or without gun. It is a bit like about being under house arrest really. It would help if we were to know how long it would last (possibly).

Eastern cape first week of May, hopefully rebook later this year or failing that 2021 🤞

I'm fortunate that my home lifestyle means I'm pretty unaffected at the moment, so the only thing different is I'd be driving around the country more, and I can't say I'm overly unhappy about not having to do that.

Culling does for the April market (cancelled); will cull a few on Monday/Tuesday on my lands instead for stock, orders and regular customers still asking, of course keeping essential travel by vehicle to absolute minimum, zero contact with others throughout all processes, and at point of sale distancing guidance of course will be observed. Just like she urges:

You have too much money Odders!

Nah - some bu88er else always ends up with it. 1oops.gif

Seriously though: Got mates in the US & three trips = less than £4k as I get my flights booked in the US & have zero accommodation & travel costs once there.
Oh & the ammunition's my handloads & thus VERY cheap ($0.30 for 7.62x51 & $0.07 for .38spl)...

Yeah, that too - got multiple 22-250 & .243 loads for my new rifles (as yet unshot) sitting waiting for a chance to test them.

Come on,if you are gonna have a blast I would have thought that calibres other than those two little rats would be far more fun.

I have a 45 year love affair with the SLR...

... then there's the Blackhawk in .45 Colt (or .45 ACP as I have both cylinders), or the 1911 & the GP100 is happy with .357mag too.

If it goes bang & hits what I point it at, then I'm happy.

The same as now.
Only downside has been cancellation of my son's wedding in mid April. Venue was booked, catering booked, entertainment booked, accommodation booked, guests invited, honeymoon planned. All celebrations now on hold indefinitely. Instead they had a simple marriage at the local registry office last Friday, just in the nick of time.

Doing exactly the same as I am now, At sea working away, The only problem we have is were not allowed ashore when we go into port and with a lot of flights cancelled we don't know how were going to get home when the time comes but we'll have to worry about that when the time comes.

I should have been boarding my CamAir co plane in Douala at this time to head north to Garoua to start a 14 day safari. Today I’ll be mowing the lawn instead.

Better than being an unpaid extra in a bad apocalypse film stuck in New York.
My pals son is stranded in Lansing Michigan on a school exchange and has no way to return till it all gets downgraded, his parents are crawling up the wall as he is only 17.

Bad enough it’s your sons I know.My daughters cancelled it was going to happen in Croatia in may,she still thinks it might happen as the wedding planner told her not to make any decisions yet.My advice to her was no chance.

I would have been demonstrating to myself how UTTERLY useless I am commanding sheep dogs.

However, this is not something that I’m going to miss out on, because as soon as the lockdown ends, the dogs will still remember who I am and look at me like I’m a big fukkin **** with no clue.

We are of course on the very cusp of the Roar here, and hunting is banned on public land and very seriously discouraged on private land in case you get into trouble and require assistance. I have chosen to do the right thing and stay with the family rather than live at the homestead with my smelly mate, and run around the hills trying to find the big boy. Because I’m pretty confident he will still be there after he’s finished shagging. We already have way too many deer and this is not going to change any time soon.
