Just came across this which I believe to be true... Assuming it is it should have folk leaving the Labour party in droves...

'In 2009, the paedophile Jimmy Savile was interviewed under caution by police in Surrey and Sussex. Subsequently, the police referred 4 cases to the CPS alleging that Jimmy Savile had abused 3 girls under the age of 16. The CPS, after receiving the files from the police, refused to prosecute Savile and dropped the case claiming ‘insufficient evidence’’. After Savile’s death, and despite multiple attempts of high level cover ups, we now know that he abused up to 500 victims over a four-decade period. Why am I sharing this with you? The man in charge of the CPS at the time, that decided there was 'insufficient evidence' to charge Savile, is the now Leader of the Labour Party Sir Kier Starmer."

Could it be that possibly, at the time, there actually was insufficient evidence? An awful lot has come to light after the fact here, and hind sight is a wonderful thing. Personally whatever his past may say about him, he’s a breath of fresh air compared to that which he has replaced!

What, another posh middle class tw*t who condescends to know what those who get their hands dirty and boots muddy earning a living really aspire to?
What Labour believes the working man or woman aspires to: Better means tested benefits and better social housing
What working people really want: Decent wages and security of work sufficient to pay their own way and buy their own house!

No, he was just as bad. What Labour needs to do is rediscover its working class roots, so no more posh lawyers like Sir Kier Starmer or Lady Nugee but find leaders from the same kind of working background as John Prescott. Despite his anti-rural prejudices at least he had first hand experience of blue collar work!

Being an optimist, I tend to think he will at least be better than Corbyn. But I have a feeling that he will strive to crash that hope. We shall see. His first test is his handling of the current crisis as opposition leader. Which, in my view should be supporting the government and pointing out ways they could do things better. I don't think he's started well. Criticising their actions so far and pressing them for an exit strategy.
