Wildcat Whisper Cleaning

Hi, lockdown boredom kicked in and stripped my Wildcat Whisper moderators 1 in 22 LR and 1 in 17 HMR. They were both filthy. Cleaned with hot soapy water and a toothbrush which removed most of the filth. In future could anyone recommend a solvent or better product to remove the crud. Or is elbow grease the best method. Thanks in advance.

Herb If you have a few mods that can be stripped down, It might be worth trying a sonic cleaner as I’ve have been told that they can work wonders on diffusers.
I haven’t tried it myself though.

But be aware that some anodised surfaces do not respond well to ultrasonic cleaning - especially if an acidic (citrus based) or other agent is added to to the mix. I have in the past cleaned a Wildcat diffuser in the ultrasound but used the ‘jar in the bath’ method with just a dash of washing up liquid, and only for a short period of time.

I’ve got an old SAK mod that’s caked inside with rock hard crud, is there anything that will dissolve/loosen it or is it a screwdriver job chipping it off?
