Hi I'm off on holiday next week but due to lockdown restrictions in Scotland there's no much to do so looking for some films to watch at night like films based on tried story last weekend I watched Hatton Garden Heist and the Essex Boys anyone got any ideas what to watch

All of the following have hunting scenes to various degrees.

Thriller/ Action : No Country for Old Men

A Vietnam Vet goes hunting and finds the aftermath of a shootout near the Mexican border along with a large sum of cash. Having taken it, he is pursued by the ruthless and relentless Anton Chugur. The aging police officer looking into the case follows a brutal trail, eventually concluding that it is 'No Country for Old Men'

Family/Humour: Hunt for the Wilderpeople

A Taika Waititi film depicting the adventures of an adopted boy and his reluctant foster father who land up in the NZ bush, a misunderstanding causes them to go on the run from the NZ authorities. Good fun and kid friendly.

Drama/War: The Deer Hunter

Probably one of the best American films ever made, can be slow but very hard hitting if you are in the target audience. Three friends who are steelworkers join the Army to serve in Vietnam, coming from a Russian community in Pennsylvania. Career defining performance from De Niro and Walken whose friendship is reflected by their shared passion for deer hunting. Their mantra of 'One Shot' being an important theme. Very reflective as it was one of the first movies to depict the Vietnam War after it ended. An emotional watch.

The Deer hunter.
I was working in Paris 1979 so I went to the George V cinema on the Champs-Élysées for a version original showing in English. The film was very moving and afterwards I went into the very cramped MacDonalds nearby where you buy the food then go down a spiral staircase to the basement to eat it standing at small tables, suddenly there was a whoosh like water tipped into hot fat from upstairs the lights blew out and total panic ensued with screams, the whole 9 yards. Don"t panic think I there was a door in the corner that must be another exit so over I stumbled, opened the door and all the brooms fell onto my head, now I went wobbly. Made it up the stairs and out into the main road which was choked with traffic, nothing moving at all and from the Place de la concorde were running "in military formation" the chrome hatted fire brigade with axes at the point, it was a hell of a vision that I will never forget.
Thanks for reminding me.

There is a stunning bit of drama available on you tube for another few hours only...today and tomorrow...Sea Wall performed by Andrew Scott...very powerful.

Did you ever call in at Gastinne Rennette on Avenue Franklin D Roosevelt before they closed down in about 1999 or 2000?

That was a place. I needed an ejector spring for my Manufrance Robust 28E made at Saint Etienne in the 1920s. So I called in in late 1999 and asked if they might have one. The answer..."Oui, Monsier, bien sur. Calibre 16 ou 12?" Which is "Yes, Sir, most certainly. 16 bore or 12 bore?" And true enough when I had told them that it was for a 16 down one of them went into the basement and came back under five minutes with the required part.

Or the other famous maker down near the Palais Royal? Faure Le Page.

The last time in the 2010s I went they'd become a shop selling shirts.
