Tikka m55, good base for a semi custom build?

I have available to me a very cheap and old tikka m55 in 243. It wants a new barrel and the stock some tlc but I quite fancy the challenge and idea of bringing it back to work as a classic stalking rifle. Is it a good base, can you fettle the trigger like the new t3s? Would welcome any opinions or ideas. Many thanks.

High bolt lift angle and always a premium on spare parts of out of production rifles.

It's not a Sako L series but why not so long as money is no issue.

M55 Is one of the best actions out there and is a great candidate for a barrel job.
All wood and steel,,, no plastic on it.
Easy to rebed the stock if necessary.
Excellent triggers.
The only possible issue is that magazines are like hens teeth.
I got a new fast twist pipe put on my 223 Tikka Master Sporter (by Mike Norris) and am very very happy with it.

Ive got a M55 in .233 Im looking to rebarrel so could I ask how approximatley much your's cost to do please?

I got mine done a few years ago, so prices may have changed. Best you get up to date prices from a couple of smiths. Expect to pay between £600 & £1200 depending on your chosen options, don't forget Proof house & courier costs.
