Capreolus club

Indeed but no need to join the club could quite easily book a couple of separate paid stalks and would be much cheaper , I fear it’s more to do with the magic course that the police love

Is that the same one you have.....?
I had deer on my FAC with out taking any courses, however a friend who pays for his stalking wanted to do the dsc1 course so I and Paul'o went along.

Its a shame so many folk on here are giving them a shoeing, you know what each to there own and all that!

Is it my bag - no not really...
Do I want to be a member - no not really...
Can I afford to be a member - no not really...

Much the same as Ferrari's for me if I had the money I wouldn't buy one but people do and that's fine... I don't have to go into a Ferrari dealership, I don't even have to look in the window, I can just walk by...

I would say the Capreolus Club / County Deer Stalking do some lovely videos on YouTube, I enjoy watching them and those that I don't I just skip by...

I had deer on my fac before I did mine too mate :thumb:

The Deer stalking courses the club undertakes, anyone completed one and if so how would / did it compare to the L1 or L2 components and importantly is it well run and worth the dollar

if it’s well put together and educational particularly to new stalkers, maybe help people get a proper leg up into properly managed deer control, every day is a learning day

if it suits, use it - I don’t know what the average annual all in fees would be for a years stalking without any far flung trips Bolted on could be in reach I guess

I feel sorry for anyone who asks a perfectly reasonable question like "Capreolus Club...Any of you guys in it or been in it ".

This guy has recently joined the forum and has asked for advice from anyone who is a member or has been a member. Instead he gets the usual negative responses from members who are not members and have not been members. If this thread moves the usual direction then we will soon move onto how its a waste of money to get qualified through DMQ (DSC L1/2) and how this doesn't make anyone a stalker etc. As far as I can see there are only 3 people who fit this criteria, the original poster who seems encouraged by what he has seen so far and 2 other guys who are on balance positive about the club.

I have no connection to the club, I am not a member and have never been a member, nor do I know anyone who is a member. But I think we should all try to put any preconceptions about clubs or syndicates of this type to one side and let the experience of those who have actually experienced it come to the fore.

Sorry, bit of a rant but this forum is going to be the first port of call for many who want to get into our sport so I personally think we should be more objective & encouraging (where the topic warrants it and we have first-hand experience) and less negative and subjective/opinionated (where we don't have any first-hand experience). Lets try to encourage more people into our sport rather than put them off at the first hurdle.

Anyway, just my view and I am sure many will disagree.

If you have access to your own stalking ground, then this club probably isn't really an attractive proposition. If you don't, then it's an option; particularly if you're starting out and don't have DSC1 or 2. I've been keeping a lookout for syndicate vacancies in the south, and there seem to be a lot fewer than in Scotland.

Hi BP

agree 100% with all your comments, a short time ago The same club / company had a problem over some ground in Epping forest which culminated into chaotic time.

That thread and this One culminated in the SD police throwing a load of old crap into the thread

irrespective on whether they deserved it or not, most of it was by people who weren’t prior to and or after the event members and or associates of the club - so how did they know ????????

i can tell you that must have been a horrendous time for peter Jones and Co and the members, They came through all that, all the SD police managed to do was to slag them off, Not one person offered any support at that time, I stated this on the old thread and a total lack of support, to and by appearances a well run Club that didn’t “ fit in” for some reason

irrespective of whether your well heeled or whatever Your circumstances are, we are supposed to pulling on the the same piece of string regarding deer management / recreational stalking - This smacks of the enemy within syndrome and I’m alright jack - were all in the same boat here, we have enough anti shooting heroes without adding to it

I’ve never been a member or associated with peter Jones, IMHO if they are doing a good job and operate correctly, Working towards towards promoting Good Training standards for existing members and particularly new comers into the sport - good luck to them, what’s not to like.

One thing is doing my head in when it comes to this club... The self appointed titles , today's one being ''widely recognised as the finest, most succesful club of its type in the UK'' ....
Why not leaving the others to judge ?

I would say just like in any other thing going in fieldsports you put yourself up on a pedestal and all people want to do is knock you off, sometimes rightly so Sometimes because they can.

I feel was taken for a ride and used by the owner (not as a member of the club )and I’ve seen others used too. It’s purely financial despite the nice facade. Heard he tries to get people involved in ‘helping’ With the club if they let him have their ground. I think fairly ruthless and courts controversy in the media. However got to hand it to him a good businessman.

If you look at the accounts on Companies House, he's making b*gger all from the enterprise, and has been the sole director of the business since May 2019...

On the conspiracy front I wonder if the Deerstalking element is just a “public front” for much darker activities!!!

I see nothing wrong with the club. They're partaking in what everyone on this site enjoys, albeit at a slightly more upmarket price. If you don't like the club you don't have to join it but there are going to be fellow stalkers/soon-to-be stalkers amongst us that really do see value in clubs like this giving them a fast track avenue into the shooting world. A lot of nay sayers on this thread probably don't realise how difficult it is to get into stalking today because you've been doing it for decades. I'm a fairly new stalker and I remember how insurmountable getting stalking permissions seemed at the start. If I had the money you're damn right I would have fast tracked to my FAC and get experience with a club like this. Everyone's really gotta stop putting down other shooters for how they choose to partake in the sport, you're doing the anti's work for them
