Static Carvan, stove or no stove?

Thanks for all your replies.. good to hear other peoples opinions... the wood burner will be fitted by a stove fiter so would be fitted to the standards needed... just think it will help alot in the winter and like a few off you said... help dry out wet stalking gear as nothing worse than not being able to dry all that out... thanks everyone 😀
I've installed my own woodburner in the past. I used this company for a very good value burner and all ancillaries. It may work out very cost effective for you to order what's required then have a stove fitter do the installation. You won't need a big woodburner (roughly 5-6 kW max) but note that some of the small ones don't allow for very big logs so that's a consideration.

Thanks for that... I'll look into it more.. yeah smaller logs will suit as have access to free firewood and its cut small

I fit stoves for a living (Hetas reg)and there’s a lot more to fitting in a stove in a caravan than a house
You need a fire brake in the roof and a twin wall flue and you also need a fire wall with a 20 mm gap from the caravan structure along with a suitable hearth and a proper air supply .
I just replaced one in a Shepard’s hut that had set the frame on fire after it was in 5 yrs!!! .
Death traps if not fitted properly .

I understand alot will go into it... I will not be cutting corners with it as I know it's dangerous if wrongly fitted... just wanted to see if it could be done and how people have found them once there in a caravan if they help or not.

No problem but if you van is on a site you will most likely need a certificate forthe site insurance and possibly for your own insurer?

This is something I've considered for the future when I finish work in a few years time.
Could I ask how you've got around fixing a cabinet in there for firearms please?
Cheers Jimmy

Mine was bolted through the floor and the chassis, then a weld on the heads to the chassis. Cabinet was then built in so it wasn’t visible. Police never commented on it being in a caravan.

Didn’t have one in mine 5 happy cheap years , mate did But it caused no end of damp problems! I Had one fitted in the replacement log cabin love it but so warm so Don’t go too Big if you do !

Just in the process of replacing a static and considering a log cabin, would be interested in who you used and any advice you have.

As long as all the correct ancillaries are used you can fit a wood burner in any type of property. Even when we fit it in brick or stone built properties we still use dual wall flues and you can hold the flues when the fire is burning well and not feel much heat. A proper stove fitter will know what he is on with. But it is not cheap when you do it right

Depending on whether the cabinet was still attached the next owner of that caravan either got a really good or bad deal!
