Sold: Sako 75 Brand New 22-250

Still available, plenty of interest but lots of people awaiting variations, a few messers saying they’d take it, then backtracking, and others wanting to view but unable to travel.

Who’d have though a brand new 75 would take so long to sell at a huge saving on an 85... might just keep it!

Please can you confirm, this is a new gun with warranty or a gun you purchased and have never used so effectively second hand?

🙄 here we go.... it’s a brand new rifle (not a gun) bought by me, never fired a shot. Still in the box. Famed for accuracy and reliability. If you’re going to be pedantic, it’s got no warranty as I’m not a Sako dealer.

So yes, it’s “second hand” as you’ve helpfully pointed out. Maybe I should advertise it at half price as it’s “used” now that it’s not in a Sako dealers gunroom.

Here was me thinking brand new just meant in unused condition, ie never been used.

personally i think its a fair price for what is essentially a brand new rifle have you tried the sako collectors forum.

No, thanks for the lead though, I thought I’d sell it here as it’s a decent community. Seems there’s still the odd personality wanting to make life difficult for people trying to make a sale.

It was on gunstar for £1450, so a member here would be getting a 10% discount.

Mr B, this could have been sold a few weeks ago after i forwarded a chap details, but spending 1300 he wanted to see it in the flesh, which i would have thought was a reasonable for that amount of money (bargain or not) even offered to pay the RFD transfer and return if he was not happy, all at his cost.

But you turned down the offer, and saying that you had other buyers. !!!

Having had this for sale since March i can only assume that you are too attached to this rifle and dont really want to sell.

You have done him a favour really, he's gone for a custom job and handed over over 1k deposit. Just think it could have been in your bank, but i think its better off in someone elses to be honest!

Not all of the buyers interested are,,,as you say "messers"

Said chap wanted to see but couldn’t come to see. At the time I was about to head North for a guy who’d said he’d take it and then unbeknownst to me went and bought something else. By this time your man had declared himself out as he was expecting me to spend upwards of £50 in speculative RFD fees so he could “have a look”. I’m sure in a pre or post Covid situation this would have been a simple transaction. In these times, not so simple.

Thanks for airing this in public though to make readers think I’m difficult to deal with, or unwilling to compromise.

I have two others interested but all waiting on variations; again, not an issue if it weren’t for Covid.

Not all buyers are messers, but it would seem a fair few are, as well as a fair few observers.

Posts like these end up looking like something you’d see on Facebook: guy tries to sell something, a million people come and slate it, even though they have zero interest in said item and a million people suggest an interest which amounts to nothing.

I’ll happily sell it, but not at less than this fair asking price. As for assisting with sale, I offered to drive it from north wales to Inverness for one potential buyer. Bottom line, if someone wants me to send it twice round the globe for them, before buying, I’ll happily do it, at their cost.

I hope your pal has many a successful day out with his new custom.

It's a pity moderation of this forum now appears to be solely related to policing breaches of trade or income related issues. It seems negative sentiments can be posted at will in direct contradiction of the rules.

If its not a genuine question for you to buy then I suggest you contact the moderator, pm the seller or better yet move on

Hopefully the East Enders (or other equally poor quality soap)-esque turn this thread has taken, won’t deter a genuine buyer from getting in touch for what is probably the last brand-new (or “second-hand but never fired and still boxed”, if that's your pedant persuasion) Sako 75 in the country.

Thanks to those concerned for the positive comments.

My apologies @Mr B if my question ruffled your feathers it wasn't meant to it was a genuine ask, as its a rare find I was just trying to understand as it wouldnt be the first thing sold by a non trade member trader.
