I might have got the wrong end of the stick, but I think he's just asking whether you, or anyone else on the forum, is a psychiatrist.so you want me to tell a perfect stranger, on a open shooting forum, if im feeling a bit depressed or that i might be a bit loopy, yeah rightgood luck with that. bs.
Do you mean 'west'?This all went south quickly...![]()
Lol yes blue you misreadjust looking for a psychiatrist as working on a project to make the medical certs thing a lot easier for anyone struggling with problematic doctors that want too much money or are conscientious objectors
I have a friend who was granted a SGC after declaring one of the medical conditions on his application. His GP's practice declined to provide the necessary report, which was eventually provided by a medically qualified contact through one of our shooting organisations, a psychiatrist. As far as I can see, the FLD currently requires a statement from a general practitioner regarding the contents of their patient's general practice notes.
I'm interested to know how a psychiatrist's input would help with that? Or perhaps there have there been cases where a psychiatrist's report has been required also?
Real sorry to hear that Carl, I also lost my best friend of 40 odd years last year to suicide, to this day nobody can give a concrete reason for it either.PS @Jamouk : let me know if I can do anything to help. I am no psychiatrist but I care a great deal about the issue following my sister's suicide last year. The fact that many shooters deny themselves professional support, for fear of losing their certificates, is a great concern.
Kind regards,
Carl
