Hi guys

I'm selling my Sako Finnfire P94s Varmint barrel. Mod, bipod and leather sling included.

2x 5 round magazines and 1x 10 round magazines.

Good condition but not a "cabinet queen". Signs of use to the bolt and stock. Selling because I want a short barrelled 22Lr for use in a hide and it would be an unforgivable crime to cut the barrel down on this classic!

Gun located in Devon but RFD possible.

£500 ONO for the whole package above.

Photos to follow.

Thanks

I honestly don't think I can bear cutting it tbh. Plus I mostly shoot HMR so I won't be in a huge rush to replace it- although I may well regret selling :/

billy boyle, get another barrell for it and have one cut and modded, they are not expensive, ive seen many a shooter regret selling there finnfire bs:doh:

As per above, don’t sell it, but get another barrel (22lr or 17 HM2) for it and adapt that to suit, leaving the original untouched. I’ve had a Varmint from new, which I won’t sell, but wanted a change, so got an extra barrel - a light weight/short 17HM2 Quad, which fit straight on to the P94S and the mag feeds 100%. See attached!
You can get Quad barrels for sensible money - see Guntrader - Richard Pope can chop one to 14” and add an integral moderator to bring it to 18” or less, for a very desirable and hide friendly/practical set up!

i have the same rifle and its superb but as mentioned the barrel is just to long, looks like i might get it chopped as the 14inch looks great and Richard Pope is pretty close

Richard had a spare 17HM2 barrel which he let me have very cheap..but there are some on GT for £125/150, which seems to be the going rate. He is going to chop and integrally moderate the 17hm2 and a 22LR (which I will put on my P94s Range) for me shortly, although I’m not sure of the maths on those yet.
A spare, shortened and moderated barrel for the P94S that you know and trust is a much better solution!

PS.. you may even be able to use an 17hmr barrel as well, but don’t know if the action is long enough to allow it to be manually fed, as it obviously won’t feed from the mag.

Richard also has the these three rare Range variants (2 x P94S and 1 x Quad, attached), which will be sold at some point.

I have a spare Finnfire Varmint barrel - already chopped to 19" and screwcut - I have now fitted a Lilja custom match barrel to my P94S to use for benchrest competition. £100 to a good home.

That’s interesting. The P94 can accept Sako quad barrels? I have a P94 that I’ve just acquired. I’d quite like a HMR or HM2 barrel for it. I previously owned a Sako quad.

Yes....Quad barrels go straight on to and align correctly on a P94S, although I’m not getting involved in any headspace discussion...some insist on using go/no go gauges, some just use an empty case and gentle pressure as they tighten the clamps.
Also, I understand you need to be careful not to over tighten the clamp bolts on the P94S action as there have been reports of a few actions cracking! I have heard that some have drilled corresponding holes in the stock to allow access to the Allen heads without removing the stock! I don’t swap barrel on mine regularly, so not too concerned with that.

Re calibre, the picture above is my P94S Varmint wearing a Quad 17HM2 barrel...you can just see about the red barrel ring calibre indicator. 17HM2 feeds from the standard 22LR magazine 100%.
Ref 17hmr... I don’t know if action is long enough to manually feed a round, or if there are other issues to consider. Richard could advise on that.

hi si-snipe yeah its a mcmillan s/varmint and no it was already in -letted for the p49s by mcmillan they still do them bs.
