Wanted: Looking for someone to go out and stalk with in Cumbria.

I’ve just had a chat with my FEO and she said that she would like to see me with a bit of stalking experience under my belt before approving my grant.
So my question as above, is there anyone in the Cumbria area (I’m in Kendal) that would mind me joining on a few stalks and shooting a few deer?
I am happy to discuss payment (in money of whisky) or any other arrangements so both parties feel happy.

I don’t want this to turn into a thread on whether the FEO was right in suggesting that, the fact is she has and I’m happy to comply as I see it as a very reasonable request.

Surprises me tbh the amount of local stalkers with massive amounts of knowledge on here that never seem to offer any leg ups to newcomers we all have had sone form of help getting going rhe local BDS group sounds more like the free masons than anything else I think the sport as a whole needs to take a bloody good look at itself without newcomers we will have no sport

Yup. Agreed.
I’m getting to the point of having shot quite enough for my own “enjoyment” and have found more fun to be had getting others out to gain experience and to see the looks on their faces. As you say, I’m sure most were helped along the way in their early days, time to help newcomers.

I'd suggest joining the BDS and making contact with the NW group. Losing one of our ranges and Covid have make a right mess of our events planning, but we hope next year to be better. Range days are a great place to introduce yourself, get some good contacts and sharpen your shooting.

Second this. Found them really useful on many levels.

Also look up graythwaite it’s decent enough and not too pricey.
