This brings up another point though, if Halal approved meat is from animals that had their throats cut and allowed to bleed out, how on earth can that be legal in the UK. That’s right up there with trapping and hunting with arrows. I have heard that dogs tails can’t be even docked over there. How is cutting an animals throat and letting it bleed to death ok?

Its fine as long as it’s part of your religious beliefs and the appropriate prayer is offered, you can do kosher slaughter too, same deal basically but different prayer, but if you do it yourself without the prayer it’s animal cruelty and you’ll be charged.
Simple enough really.
By the way its Halal only in UK prisons too, not a park sausage or bacon sarny in sight.
 
Strange how hackles raise when 'halal' is mentioned - raise it as 'kosher' and doing essentially same (and yes there is a version of kosher that does not allow stunning before the knife) and you could easily be accused of being anti-Jewish/Semitic...........

And, as I've said in an earlier post, it is how all animals were mostly slaughtered before captive bolt humane killers or, later, electronic stunners came into use. If you drive on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Nigeria you can see the Kara Cattle Market. No captive bolt guns, no electronic stunning. It's poleaxes and sharp knives. Condemnation of halal slaughter is usually by people less concerned (if at all) with animal welfare and more about islamophobia for as said where's the quid pro quo from these people...often in the USA likely to be found on Fox News and similar....also condemning kosher slaughter?

It’s was inhuman back than as it is now . My dad used it help with the pig slaughter / cattle when there time was due as a boy in the 1930-40s He has often said it was the cruelest thing he had ever seen .
The best thing was during the war they used a sten gun on semi/auto to shoot the pigs etc much more humain. The Home guard were issued with them around here.probably the only thing they ever shot!!
 
I would be pleased to ensure all animals were humanely treated when processed for food.
Call it halal or whatever you want just dont apply a religeous context to the food I eat in my home country.
I dont think thats racist, just resonable.
I wouldnt expect a Muslim to eat pork, or any other religion to break their laws but thats a two way street. Halal meat to me is meat killed in a manner suitable for Muslims to consume as Kosher is suitable for Jewish people to consume. Subordinate not dominant.
I dislike neither which more than can be said for them.

If you don't include all of "them" then some of "them" might take offence at not being included with all of them .
Of course most of them don't know who some of them are ,then they can blame all of the others .
So some of them will offend all of them but no 1 will admit to offending any of them so how can we blame any of them for being offended by the others 🤣🤣🤣🤣
 
Having been to a Public school back in the '70's all I will say is I wish we had been fed the quality of halal food that I get in my take-aways these days instead of the shite we got fed back then (which was rank- truly dreadful. It is a wonder I survived😉)
