6.5x55 Bullet Test

That was good robert thanks for the link.
I have tried a good few bullets in the 6.5x55 but I still prefer the hornady 129sp for deer.

Stuck on the Norma with 140 gr Nosler Partitions. Only 152 rounds left, so a lot of deer.....

Currently 53 and should still be using them at 60.

P.S. Use "other stuff" on the range but find I can always rely on the Swaro to "dial back on close"

Wow, impressive amount of info there.
It looks to me that the Barnes range are consistently good, as is the Swift Scirocco II.
I don't think I'd risk using the Berger Hunting VLD for hunting.

Robert, many thanks for the link, I really enjoyed looking at it! Lots of food for thought.

I shot 3 fallow bucks with the berger 155 vld 308 this season and I was impressed with the results.

JCS, I found this link of yours quite worrying, only 3" of travel into the animal before almost complete destruction of the bullet! I wonder what it would be like on a fallow buck's shoulder bone, or even a red? I think i will stick with what i am using at the moment.

In the original 6.5 test I was impressed with the A-Max, but i think i will still keep them for target use only.

Wow, what a wealth of information there. I wonder how long it took him (and how much newspaper) to complete his "study".

"The bullet penetrates through the initial 1” to 3” of tissue and bone depending on impact velocity and then quickly fragments sending a tremendous amount of hydrostatic shock and fragments into the surrounding vital organ’s tissue"

oo...thats going to light a fire under someone's bottom on here

does sound like a varmint bullet from the description.
I try not to liquify anything I plan to eat
