Opinel #6 is just under 3" (mine is 7.3 cm i.e. 2.9 ") so legal UK EDC if you have popped off the Virobloc locking ring. Quite a bit longer than any UK legal SAK i.e. sub 93mm.Stainless Opinel no. 5 (no locking ring). You can gralloch a deer with it and go to the pub afterwards, however being so short, the police would have more to say about the blood on your forearms than the length of your knife.
I've used the marlin spike almost as much as I've used the blade and its clear to all just how much use that has had as its a fair bit smaller now than it originally was.I had one of those when I worked on the farm back in the 60's. I was told the spike was for getting boy scouts out of horses hoves.
Every Day Carry knife, in other words a knife you can legally carry anywhere other than an airport, court or school
Oh dear - had the horse trampled said boy scout?I've used the marlin spike almost as much as I've used the blade and its clear to all just how much use that has had as its a fair bit smaller now than it originally was.
Also the can opener is a far better design than those on my Victorinox or Leatherman knives.
I just did a quick search on the internet and the price of a new one is £38, a bit more than the five bob my dad paid for mine from the army surplus store. Incidentally mine was brand new and unissued when purchased. I think I've had my money's worth out of it.
And yes it was used to get a stone out of a hoof once, but never a boy scout.![]()
Airports are restricted, the general access areas are public space.Almost, you can carry in all these places. You cannot take it through security in the airport though, and would be asked to leave it at security in a court.
No restriction at all around schools.
EDC = Every Day Carry, which could refer to almost anything carried daily / regularly such as torch, knife, multi-tool etc.Whats EDC mean
I do think it is important to point out that EDC does not mean "Legal to carry", there is a distinct difference. Many sellers will advertise EDC knives which are not legal to carry, because of the length of the blade. In most cases EDC means what it says, easy to carry, fits in the pocket.Every Day Carry knife, in other words a knife you can legally carry anywhere other than an airport, court or school
