Six Nations tomorrow........

That red card was absurd rugby’s gone soft why they bother looking at them in slow motion god only knows. Makes them appear ten times worse. Feel for the jocks they seem to be a form team and I feel this will derail their chances. England well the only thing I have to say about that game is that Italy have no business being in this tournament anymore get them out.
Red card was definitely warranted, very clumsy, and rugby has certainly not gone soft. Great win for Wales, the card cost Scotland the win.

Couldn’t disagree more bunch of nonsense these days ruined by zealous tmos during internationals worried about poor little darlings getting hurt. Will soon be no contact at the breakdown allowed and tackles only below the waste. This concept of straight red cards for clumsy or even accidental mistakes kills games, back in the day short of ironing someone out you couldn’t get sent off.

OK, your right.

28 years a player, County at two age groups, South West of England, Captained my club. Coached for 13 years, Chairman of my local club, life member. I do know just a little about rugby in the 70s, 80s and 90s as a back row forward. Played against Bristol, Worcester, Gloucester, Newport, Bath, Roslyn Park, Blackheath, Wasps to name just a few.......Trust me, I know about “back in the day”

I will confess, the modern game is not for me, I am so glad I played the era I did. But in today’s game, a red all day.

I hear you and played at similar levels in 15s and on the 7s circuit but today’s game especially in the northern hemisphere is a shadow of its former self and we will kill it. Frankly I blame this all on when they started to abolish the large communal baths post game on grounds of elf and safety 😂.

My issue with these type of red cards is around the continuity of refereeing. Any number of similar shots in almost all matches that don't lead to any cards or a comment from the Referee.

The automatic red carding of these acts is for player safety (rightly in my opinion). Yet an Italian player plays a player on the ground (illegal) which results in a serious injury. No card, that doesn't make any sense to me.

Personally, and only in my own opinion, since turning "Professional" the game has totally changed. Played at school and for five years after. Left it for 10 years then joined vets team.
Got sent off second match so knocked it all on the head as I think then it was total ban after 3 send offs and my temper was high then.
In this day and age red cards are totally necessary for actions such as these last two.
Ok injuries are nominal now and head contact demands a medical straight away but players need to be protected even from themselves.

Oh memories. Around 1980, I played down on Beacon Park against a strong Plymouth Albion side, local derby, but for some reason the pitch was making players cuts and grazes septic, so some bright spark emptied god knows how many bottles of TCP into the bath. Even copious amounts of Brut could not mask the smell in the bar. Happy days.

It may well have been the correct decision by the ref to red card the Scottish player but I thought it was a little unfair. I'm sure there were a couple of similar transgressions committed by Wales that went unseen. My wife will kill me for saying this but I thought the Scots deserved to win, so please nobody show her this post.

Rugby stories: Played against, the now gone, Glamorgan Wanderers in South Wales, any game in South Wales back then was always a really tough encounter! My opposite number was a man of some repute, and a Wales B international, he gave me a torrid time, but you just had to man up. Anyway after the game he was my host in the bar, a separate bar for the players, and the beer was free. I am not a small man, and in the day could drink beer with the best of them, but my now best Welsh mate was in a different league altogether.

I have never, ever seen a pint glass look so small, but in his hand it looked smaller than a half, and two gulps and it was gone! C’mon then boyo, let’s rip the sh*t out of this free beer! Shi*t the bed, I reckon we had six pints in the first hour, it was a long night! The coach trip back to Devon was a blur. 🍻🍻 Happy days, Rugby, beer and women........In that order. 👍👍

Despite the Welsh/English rivalry, the hospitality shown towards us in Wales was always second to none........After the game. 👊👊. The times I have crossed that bridge at midnight, rat arsed, bruised and beaten.......But happy. 👍

Farrell having a good whinge.

And rightly so some outrageous calls already by these frogs. Killing the game.

Ref must be getting paid by the minute he’s talking on tv.

Shaping up to be a cracking game both sides trying to play good rugby hampered by the dopey men in black.

Since posting that I've noticed the ref hasn't shut his mouth. He's even annoying my missus.
