Yep - bottom left on the second photo.“Produced in Scotland using venison from UK and New Zealand”.
Let’s hope the piece you picked up was UK shot then!
Our Tesco has stock this for years
Not quite.Yep - bottom left on the second photo.
Didn’t know that - only an annual shopper when the wife’s away![]()
Understand your logic, however if that were the case why would it even mention New Zealand. Not quite.
The Country of Origin is where the goods have been grown, produced or manufactured.
Depending on the process, the raw materials may have come from New Zealand but have been substantially processed here in the UK. It is all about the value-add.
Can’t say - perhaps because they use a variety of sources for their venison to meet seasonal demands.Understand your logic, however if that were the case why would it even mention New Zealand.
Origin should be where it has come from.
Will go back next year to see if any of the others are marked NZ.
Even more frustrating when the local game dealer is paying a handsome reward of £0.50/kg. From that to £27 retail...!!!It's so frustrating that we import venison from New Zealand
I can never understand why amateur stalkers put up with that. Commercial stalkers fine, but the rest of us get given our pennies and toddle off to Asda to buy burgers at £6.59/kg ! Even if we turned the whole beast into burgers we would be better off. Certainly health wise.Even more frustrating when the local game dealer is paying a handsome reward of £0.50/kg. What difference does that make? They have mention it by law. That doesn't mean that anyone cares. Some may but most will not even read it.May contain lead warning also so perhaps it isn't such a big deal after all the supermarkets wanting lead free
Why is it going to be farmed? If that was the case then why mention lead. Farmed venison will not contain lead in the steaks surely? It is going to be farmed venison anyway so they can get "traceability". I will stick to "organic" thanks.
Some of us don’t. Eat what you shoot is my motto…..with the exception of foxesI can never understand why amateur stalkers put up with that. The only venison that can be certified as organic is farmed or park. Not wild.It is going to be farmed venison anyway so they can get "traceability". I will stick to "organic" thanks.
That's Highland Game for you. Still, not as mercenary as Donald Russell I guessEven more frustrating when the local game dealer is paying a handsome reward of £0.50/kg. From that to £27 retail...!!!
