Delta became the 99% prevalent variant through the summer. Our national mortality due to covid slowed in the same period.
Omicron looks to have a higher infectivity, and looks to be Delta's successor to the title of "most detected" in population.
Is there any data to suggest that Omicron is more lethal than Delta? Initial studies by its discoverer, Dr A Coetzee, suggest not. Do you have different data?

I had my BionTec booster on Friday, Saturday was an awful day now on Sunday am almost back to normal.
BTW, I did an online order for a German lady in my Village as it was all written in English (a Chinese site for an xmas deer for her front yard). The company sent me a mail that its on its way with a tracking number without any carrier info, so useless. They added this comment. Due to the popularity of covid-19, delivery time will be delayed.

No one seems to know whether the lethality differs (or, I should say, they can’t yet tell with any confidence). That’s the real hope - that it doesn’t kill people as much as previous variants did.
Though the prospects don’t look great:
There is obviously a lot of armchair viral evolution and epidemiology on the Internet saying that it’s less lethal and even asserting flat out that there’s an inevitable trade off between infectivity and lethality. None of this should be treated as anything more than wishful thinking until we have actual data on Omicron.

I returned to the uk on the 12.30 Eurostar on Friday, got home at 15.30, did a LFT to check myself and put the £54 PCR in the post at 16.30. It was delivered to the lab in harley street at 07.47 yesterday morning and i got the all clear email at 20.30 last night. 2 colleagues got their all clear at 09.00 yesterday.
How quickly would you expect to start seeing deaths? Given that it was only identified 2 weeks ago?

Latest medical journal literature saying that this new variant has spliced genome from influenza/HIV virus which explains the higher transmission. After all HIV is rife in Africa so probably correct assumption? Wondering what it'll splice with next????
No. That’s pure nonsense.
It has a lot of mutations, which may have arisen because it spent time in an immune compromised host (ie. HIV positive), but there is no evidence of HIV or flu genes in it.

Well if it’s anything like other variants it was probably in circulation for a few weeks before being identified so would have already expected people to be dropping dead seen as it’s such a concerning variant….

Just like those expected to believe it , you know , the ones wearing masks everywhere , zombies . If the so called pandemic were real there would be now very few survivors , if it is a plandemic meant to scare folks into obeying every edit the 1984 has finally arrived , I wear no mask , will never subject myself to a vaxx that doesn't prevent , doesn't cure and facilitates onward infection.
I would so love for this to be the case.
But there have been so many times when we’ve thought ‘this time it’ll be different’ and it turns out not to be.

You describe a pandemic which has killed almost 150,00 people in the UK and over 5 million people worldwide as a hoax - what evidence have for that outrageous statement.
