To date I’ve taken on five SD members, who I’d not known beforehand, plus one guy from our shoot and it has worked out very well, we all stalk together regularly with those yet to do DSC1 gaining hands on experience.

Only one SD member, who approached me some years ago, didn’t work out because within days (not weeks/months) he asked me to sign off a letter to his FEO including my land on his application.

Yes there are good guys out there that deserve a chance but it pays to careful.....and do your due diligence.

Willowbank.

Took a couple out rough shooting with 12 gauge no problems had shotgun since 18 year old . I have only just started getting into deer at 64 yrs old still not shot one yet ? have open ticket and 243.

I had a couple of offers to take me out when I first joined the site. COVID kind of meant that it never came to pass in the end, but if I’m ever in a position to do likewise, I would.

I was always told what goes around come around so have always tried to give without thinking too much
I have been given back ten fold in my opinion but others who have given may not think it as valuable as I did
It is nice to give without acknowledgment but still know others appreciate it. if you give you give you should give without conditions attached if others abuse your generosity they don't receive it again.
I can only say that people i have become equated with on this site have been generous more than I could have imagined with information and opportunities
regards
PHILK

I took out a guy off here to help me on a couple of cull days. It did help that I knew his father in law and now due to poor mobility he does most of the foot slogging stalks. Have been let down before, but not this time. This lad is good with a capital G and hopefully will take over from me eventually. Also took out a NHS employee as a thank you, he is also a great guy and is welcome back anytime, and he knows it.

Have done, and one syndicate Im on its part of the deal. Ive supervised a few trainees, some are naturals, some are just unsuited to stalking/deer management. With another permission, I will be taking out a colleague, happy to do so.

When i was an AW i gave away heaps of opportunities to those who didnt have their own stalking, several completed their L2 on my ground.

Would you like do it again?

No.

I simple dont have the time or inclination to do it any more.

I have offered free stalking for a few guys so far and most worked out well and some of them comes back regularly! I'm happy that I could help to some guys, I have even taken a few guys to overseas for wild boar for free or for swap.
Sure someone will try to stab me at the back sooner or later, but until that time I am trying to make as many friendship as I can 😉

Over the years I have helped many get into stalking and given away a fair amount on here.
I have no issue helping folk out and am happy to advise. But I dont do liars, Cheats, back stabbers or bull sh.t merchants.

Think i may know one of those that let you down ;) Sorry

(Provided they are police vetted and safe)

I'm more than happy to help others

I'm not into stalking yet, but I'm dead keen, presently finances are getting in the way of being able to go out and see if its something I would enjoy, I'm also certain I would, as I love nature and the countryside, I'm all to aware that I may not get anything but for me that's not the point,

I've been hunting small game long enough to know this. Sometimes the stalk, or the wait ; much like fishing is the most enjoyable part, its the whole experience that matters.

As a target shooter, RO and LSR/Gallery rifle coach, I genuinely feel honored to people get into shooting, recently myself and the Mrs who is also a shooter,

We where invited to help another club which we are personally affiliated too (they love us)

We where asked to help induct a bunch of newbies, many of which had never even shot an airgun before. The newbies where so grateful, they looked at us like gods, and where all over the Mrs Ruger which is very tricked up indeed.

Afterwards one of the ladies even said "ill remember this day and the both of you for the rest of my life!"

For me it feels like a privilege to be able to impart some knowledge, (however limited it may be) onto someone else

We often forget how much it means to help others and for me, not only in my hobby but my occupation, I feel I get way more back that I put out.

I too remember the first day Myself and the Mrs where invited along to the range and allowed to shoot, as if it was yesterday, 20+years ago!

I will always be grateful to the chap who invited me, we are still firm friends and he is my mentor or "Yoda" as he used to call me and the Mrs. his "Padawan"

Although he is quite annoying, for the simple fact he can shoot practically any discipline and come away with a win,

You name it Clays, long range, McQueen, sporting rifle, long range rimfire, even archery he seems to be a true allrounder and excels in all forms of shooting

He taught me so much!

I have had a number of people take me out when I first started and therefore try to help others.
I have taken a number out. Funny though, when it comes to foxing or rabbits few return. They seem to think it is, turn up shoot for an hour and go home.
So to answer the question, yes, I have and do take people out, see what they are like and if I judge then suitable and safe. I will take them out again when I get time. But for me then need to keep in contact with me. Not my job to keep inviting them out.

Yes but like me they may think they are pestering you all the time . A member offered to help me I am so grateful for the help given me.
