Hi, I live in Kent, shoot mainly shotguns but would like to get into deer stalking. I like target shooting (hopefully get my FAC sometime in the new year). I would like to find out if deer stalking is for me. Should I have a go at a novice day or do a DSC1 or similar?

Welcome from Essex, worth booking a paid stalk to see how you like and you can learn a good bit of info if your with the right person then if it is go for dsc1 after and if its not you've saved a bit of money

Thanks for the info. Think I will take your advice and book a stalk first.

I second T.Eddie's advice on going out for paid stalks to begin with. You will be able to use the estate rifle on the paid stalks.

Keep the receipts as they provide evidence of your interest and participation in the sport which will be useful if/when you apply for an FAC variation for stalking rifles.

And welcome from London.
