Initial impression of shooting .243 for the first time. It's great.

I tried out my 1987 .243 Tikka M55 super sporter at 300yds on the weekend and I am highly impressed. For an elderly rifle with a severely burned out throat, it's decently accurate with 41gr of RS62 and 90gr Sierra FMJ (see below, I snatched one shot). But the best thing is that despite being quite a powerful loading, the recoil is so mild I can watch the fall of shot through the scope which for me is a great asset for a cartridge.

243 with 41gr RS62 and 90gr Sierra Gameking FMJ 100 thou jump.webp

Nice . I've always liked the 55s . A buddy of mine has a rather minty example in 308 that I've lusted after for some time . One in 243 would be a very handy rifle .
