I’ve re-studied the initial statement from Emberleaf and the emboldened is indeed telling:Whatever the truth to this, neither party comes across well. Suspect this may well be largely driven by the relationship with Purdey, and Emberleaf making knives for them now.
“The Greenman forge as a limited company has only existed since Oct 2017 so filed records are hard to come by. Is the logic really that we saw a shape copied it spent 10s of thousands of pounds on R+D and marketing for us then to try and take legal action against the person we are supposed to have copied it from? We are not a big company, there are 3 of us including the apprentice, we just want to get on and do the job we love, however we have not just our own brand to consider but much larger companies that require us to at least to be seen to be protecting the designs and brand names.”
