Welsh Game Fair

It will certainly be interesting to see behind the wall as in all the years I have been going back and fore to Bangor I've never visited the estate, and my wife who hails from Bangor wasn't aware that there were deer on the estate until a few weeks ago and was surprised when a friend sent her a photograph of fallow on the other side of the wall. I on the other hand have been aware of the deer for a very long time.
Although originally a deer park and menagerie, I don't think that there are any deer there these days, unless they've recently restocked the park, in which case I'm happy to be corrected.
A couple of deer were reported by the Daily Post as being seen by the entrance to Plas Menai and the exit off the roundabout to Brittania bridge, but these did not come from Vaenol. I don't know where they did come from, but it seems a bit of a coincidence that a friend of mine had sold two red hinds to the Green Wood Forest Park...... :-|

VSS my understanding is that these are remnants of the old deer park. What does intrigue me is "deer fencing" to protect recently planted trees erected along stretches of the recently opened Caernarvon bypass. I wasn't aware of any deer around Caernarvon, has there possibly been a population explosion and a break out during the various lock downs over the past two years, or are they just being overly cautious in protecting new plantings from other stock?

I was wondering exactly the same about those fences.
The nearest deer are probably my own, and I'm not planning on letting them out any time soon!

There are still a handful of deer currently. One escaped a few months back and was spotted outside Bangor.
Beaters I know regularly see them on shoot days.
I think they're all does bar the 1 buck that escaped.
I will most definitely attend and hopefully support something so local.
Great shame The Midland died a death.

Was a big supporter of the Midland until a few years ago.
It’s such a shame it has gone down hill, remember attending as a young lad in the 90’s.

Let’s hope this show is a success.

We hope to go, although a friend has selfishly arranged for their wedding on that weekend.

It might not come to much, but it would be good to get something back in North Wales.

I believe the Bangor Rifle Range (indoor 100 yrds) literally off the roundabout by the entrance will be running a competition to win a £500 custom knife.
Hopefully it will be a success with agood turnout and suport from locals.

Would anyone like two adult any one day tickets and if you go Friday, a forward parking pass?, seems through an office glitch here, we have two full sets of tickets.:-| PM if you want them, collect preferred as it's a bit close to the dates. GONE

As I understand it the range will be used by stall holders selling rifles so that people can try before they buy. Think this might make a unique service for pretty well any fair of this type.

David.

It will. Charles Lancaster Experience - Welsh Game Fair

Have a look at the cost - £38 for four rounds.
To be booked in advance and only available to FAC holders although the club is hosting it as one of their open days. :-|
You have to be a FAC holder to shoot as a guest at the club.

Finally spotted this. Thanks.

David.

Any body go yesterday.

I have to comment on my surprise doing the circuits of Vaynol yesterday, Myself wearing a white shirt pressed, with black tie ............ of the many people thronging the fair, only two others with a black tie, & about 80% observing the two minute silence after... But a nice relaxed fair for a change, very little stuff unconnected.
