Best dog crate for road going quad bike

I am going to make up a crate/ dog box to go on a road going quad bike, any photos/advice/suggestions/awful warnings to share?

I was thinking along the lines of plywood box with a mesh door on one side. And either fixed on a plywood deck or shock/bungee cord onto the rack.

What breed of dog Alan ?
If your making it do not put any vents facing forward ,the dogs will freeze .
If it’s terriers I have a plastic box here that I’d part with .Very durable .

Thanks for your thoughts...

The little springer on the right of my avatar...and probably similar size/breed in the future...double terrier size though I think. Would be interested to see what your box looked like though. How did you attach it?

It was the wind chill effect I was thinking of hence the mesh door on the side which would mean I could mount it on front or back rack as required.

The ones I have seen so far have just been for off road around the shoot and are just open top boxes...but I remember the horror story of Yorkshire Roe Stalking losing his dog when it came out of the back of his pick up when he was going along the road.

I’ll take a pic tomorrow Alan .Mine was strapped on with ratchets .A larger version is made by same guy .Very good and easy washable .Recycled plastic .

Don’t put mesh on the sides either mate .Wind chill is not to be underestimated when an animal can’t get out of it .
Mine have carpet in them but some fill with straw in winter .Only trouble is it blows in your face .
Rear boxes need vents in line with your body to cut out direct wind chill not at rear because of exhaust .

I used to have metal terrier and spade boxes on my quad, a guy called Darren tisdale built them, he’s on Facebook. All hand made so he’d be able to do bespoke. Mine came with a separate tray that the boxes clipped in to so when they weren’t needed I could just unclip them.

Making it from Aluminium was the other possibility. I have just had a look at Darren Tisdale's photos, food for thought. Thank you.
They are great quality and reasonably priced, even better if you can fabricate your own! The plastic boxes are ok but I would say it depends how much you want to use them, all the ones I’ve seen have broken in various places on the welds.

Had mine for 11 years and no issues mate .

When my sheepdogs are on the quad I just tell them to stay there, which they do, all day if necessary, even if I park it in town or some other busy place. However I wouldn't trust my terriers or Mouse's spaniel to do the same so I can understand why you want a box. I would make one from stokbord if I was you. Pretty easy to do, and a lot cheaper than buying one. Or you could just knock one together out of plywood.
