I can't bring myself to waste much, especially if I've taken a life, all the rabbits I shoot get processed, even if some goes to the dogs, we always keep the loins, the guts and other waste goes to feed the foxes, but now the local Chinese restaurant won't take those I'm a bit stuck with what to do with 'em, answers on a postcard pleaseRather worrying outlook on life. I can appreciate the enjoyment of the sport. But just to like killing, creepy. I frequently leave rabbits, foxes and so on if I don't need to take them. Its population control, not extinction.
.By "I frequently leave rabbits and foxes if I don't need to take them" I mean I frequently do not shoot (take) rabbits or foxes if there is no need to. I remove and use all my kills, if I can't eat it the dog does.I can't bring myself to waste much, especially if I've taken a life, all the rabbits I shoot get processed, even if some goes to the dogs, we always keep the loins, the guts and other waste goes to feed the foxes, but now the local Chinese restaurant won't take those I'm a bit stuck with what to do with 'em, answers on a postcard please![]()
Yes VonBlitz, I understood that, I just didn't get my reply quite right, edited it to amend things.. It's nice to know some of us still appreciate what's around us, some think it's a virtual game, the number of guns on driven shoots now that looked shocked when you offer them the brace at the end of the day is incredible!By "I frequently leave rabbits and foxes if I don't need to take them" I mean I frequently do not shoot (take) rabbits or foxes if there is no need to. You really should choose your friends with more care. Those were the exact words a recent new acquaintance used when I asked if he wanted a few of the rabbits we'd shot from a new permission I've obtained. Needless to say, our 'friendship' has been curtailed. Unbelievable
All good mate! Just alarmed myself with my own response hahaha!Yes VonBlitz, I understood that, I just didn't get my reply quite right, edited it to amend things.. From the sounds of it his friendship didn't last long. Woodsmoke's not a psychicYou really should choose your friends with more care.
Can't always decide who you meet, can you? I take people as I find them (both on here and in real life) Everyone gets the benefit of the doubt. Once. You really should choose your friends with more care.

That's exactly why I no longer want to be part of any game syndicates. The attitude of some folk is truly sickeningI stoped beating on a game shoot because that was the attitude of virtually all of the guns, no interested in taking a brace away with them, no shot selection, “if it flys it dies”, so I guess your new acquaintance is no different to others who kill for fun/sport, just more outspoken about it.
Not really any different to many, many, MANY guns on big bag pheasant days...Those were the exact words a recent new acquaintance used when I asked if he wanted a few of the rabbits we'd shot from a new permission I've obtained. Needless to say, our 'friendship' has been curtailed. Unbelievable
I see your point, but it's not really the same thing, is it? To most of us, I'd very much hope that the actual killing is done dispassionately and as humanely as possible. I agree that the whole point of the exercise is to kill, but that's only part of an entire holistic process that then continues on. Killing purely for the sake the enjoyment of killing is entirely different, and will never be something that I can reconcile myself to accept, whether it's deer, rabbit, fox, or pheasantsAnyone on here who denies that they enjoy killing things is doing some quite complicated mental gymnastics.
