Fox caller

I have just as much success with mouth calls as my mates do with Electric. They use FoxPro Inferno callers.

I am 'dyed in the wool, tight fisted, miserable old sceptic' and for years I simply couldn't see much point in the pennies outlay on electronic calls at all.

THEN I splashed out on a little Ico-Tec GC150 (no longer available) and suddenly I could see what the fuss was about. Not only a range of calls available, but most importantly from my perspective, when Charlie pops out through the hedge he's no longer looking at me. He's looking at the caller, so I can move to settle the crosshairs on him nicely and usually without being spotted. That little GC150 actually has teeth marks in it from where foxes have steamed in full-tilt and grabbed it when it's been on 'Mouse'

I've literally just pre-ordered an Ico-Tec GC350 with UK calls installed, purely for the extended remote controller range it will give me. At £155 from BestFoxCall I reckon it will be money well spent.

No affiliation to BFC or Ico-Tec but I rate both ;)

I have a foxpro inferno for sale I have had it for a few years , in used but good working condition .

I’m just to old and set in my ways so I tend to use the back of my hand .

Yep - sceptics are us! That said as per my “Death in the afternoon” thread, I nailed a wise old fella first time out with the Icotec 500 and the distressed phezzie call - despite a misfire! He was so fixated on the call and decoy that he tolerated my obvious swearing/jumping up and down/swearing again, presence long enough to let me eject the duff round and check for dead man’s click, chamber a new round and rezero on him. I am now a fan! Mind you the old back of hand squeak is still my go-to failsafe and I have never left it in the house yet……….

I've had the foxpro spitfire & wildfire, and the ico-tec gc500. id recommend the ico-tec gc500, reason being the remote control works in excess of 100 yds (said to be 300 yds).

For all these's people that refuse to buy a remote electronic caller all i can say is your limiting your chance's of calling foxes in, with hand/mouth calls there very limited, with electronic you have a large selection including the fox mating and distress calls that account for many foxes when its the right time of year, -------and as all ready been said the noise is coming from the caller (positioned away from you) so the fox is looking there, not at you, IMO money well spent which can save you a lot of time and bring in foxes off some one else's land, there are times when you can have a result within 5 minutes.

Spot on ....I wouldn't shoot many foxes if it wasnt for my Foxpro.....money well spent.

I have often had foxes come straight in that were unsighted within 2 or 3 minutes ...I think they are brilliant and wouldn't be without mine.

Silly question but does anyone know which is the smallest/lightest caller?? I sold my gc350 as found it too bulky as I walk all my ground but now fancy trying one again, don't feel i gave it fair go.

The fox pro inferno is pretty small, good range on it too as mine works in excess of 500 yards!

i think there all about the same size i have seen a smaller one which is american but cant for the life of me remember who makes it

I too have recently purchased one and the revelation for me is getting the fox to go to where I want to shoot it. Rather than it come straight to me. Worth the investment !

the caller i was thinking about is the WESTERN RIVERS GSM-WRC-GC75 WESTERN RIVERS MANTIS 75R CALLER
i dont know if it would be any good but have a look

I've just brought the gc350 and am surprised how lightweight it is, I'm sure it's going to add a few more foxes to the yearly tally. It adds another dimension to the game for me!

Yep same here I've just sold my inferno, nice pace of kit but i found I didn’t use it, still prefer my bunch of small mouse sqeakers on a bit of string around my neck just to stop em, they will come galloping in as well when the times right

That's Ok but you cant replicate mating calls , cub calls or chicken in distress. It's the versatility that I love 😁

just need to stop em, i call them in all times of the year, only use my calls when it’s needed, i do use a icotec waggler that really holds their attention and enthusiasm for a few seconds
i’ve seen first hand guys over using them and scaring foxes off quite the opposite to what you’d expect, field craft and patience are the key things, i sometimes think in some quarters guys are in tooooo much of a hurry and only out for a couple of hours and go OTT with callers and lamps to compensate particularly if your not familiar with the ground and trails etc
