Wildcat not selling spares/parts for their moderators

Rang Wildcat today for a 15 x 1 spigot to fit a predator 8 to be told that they are not making any spares/parts, only complete moderators, due to a shortage of raw materials.

Thought this a tad strange as there is no shortage of steel or aluminium. I don't believe any rare metals get used in the manufacture of moderators.

The price of all raw materials has rocketed so perhaps it’s a polite way of saying they aren’t interested in supplying at this point in time.

They've probably decided there is less money in supporting spares than selling the main products, not very reassuring

Well it’s a useful post as it should prompt members to insist on being supplied with a spare set of key components (at cost) prior to parting with their hard-earned.

I insist on a spare pair of MATCHING laces when purchasing shoes/boots and have walked away from many a sale because the shop either wouldn’t or couldn’t oblige.

So what's the point of buying from them? I thought the whole point was that you could buy an extra baffle, spigot or whatever? If not you may as well forget all the over-complication and buy an ASE or whatever.
A friend bought a wildcat for this reason and after figuring he can’t get the spares said exactly the same.

Just buy an A-tec and get fantastic service and an open line to their customer services folks. Plus when it’s shot out the auK distributed will sell you a new one for 60% of the cost of the old one if you trade it in.

Gixer

Looking at their website spares for sale only seem to include bushes and O rings.

Seems a strange decision as the appeal of their mods is their flexibility, interchangeability and strippability.

I’ve had the same problem, I bought a Predator 12 last year with 15x1 bridge and was hoping to buy a 5/8 x 24 bridge last month and got the same response as you.

I agree that it seems to be a strange situation for a company to market a product based on the availability of spares that create the interchangeability only then to stop selling the promised spares.

But, I suspect there is more to this than meets the eye. I have dealt with Wildcat over the years and they have always been great with their customer service so I doubt this change was what they wanted. Maybe it is something to do with the availability of raw materials but maybe it’s also linked to the issue of people collecting parts and building moderators from parts which sidesteps the current laws?

This sort of thing really ****es me off, you get behind a company because it’s a good product, modular system so easily replaced parts and british, then they pull stunts like this to capitalise on current circumstances, loosing there way.

i was told the spare parts have to go on your ticket and you need a variation for that part ? seems idiotic to me bs.
Never heard of that and I know there are lots of wildcat spare parts floating around without any record of them on a FAC so seems completely unmanageable and frankly I think the police and FEO,s have more to worry about than chasing up mod parts.

I purchased an evolution a month or so ago and it came with a serial number stamped on both the bridge an the sleeve that covers the baffle. So given this, it would be difficult for them to be able to send these parts out willy nilly without logging them to a license.
On a side note though, as its a British company i did find it strange that to undo the screw to strip the unit i needed an imperial alan key 🤔
Fantastic moderator though, really tames my 30-06 into a pussycat to shoot.
Jimmy.

In short they would rather sell to a new customer than look after an existing one, they must have worked in the Mortgage market previously
