In general history suggests the ss to have been very effective and courageous troops who could certainly get the job done. Totally spoilt themselves with some extreme atrocities imo.

If true is shocking, all armed forces should be held to a very high standard. Mistakes happen and cant be looked at the same as civilian life but executions of detained prisoners should be investigated by an indeoendant body not a broadcaster looking for viewers.
I hope its false statements not the norm of the time

So if that’s the critical distinction and by inference justification, why then isn’t a Senior representative from the Armed Forces/MOD simply explaining this to the BBC and with suitable attendant moral outrage at seeking to bring into question the professionalism of the Regiment/s in question?

Surely if they had the program would never have been aired based on “nothing to be seen here”?

It is worth comparing the attitude to the likes of Jimmy Saville and this programme. The BBC has an agenda and it isn't always the truth, its a convenient 'truth'.
There are differences of opinion in units and sometimes these flare into allegations - I didnt see the programme - I certainly dont trust the BBC but I do want to see the SAS continue its exceptional work. The Regiment is based not far from us, has always been and will always be a source of pride and prestige. In war even undeclared bad stuff happens. Comparing to Ukraine is like trying to compare apples and pears as well most of you know.

Make money for (more like take public money and give it to) 'defence' companies. And with billions of £/$'s squandered, nothing to show for it.

Perhaps worse because the Afghan National Army gave up and all their wepons are now held by the Taliban... the same faction armed to fight to Soviets a while back.

There is a saying that 'the West makes it's own enemies when it can't find any', a lot of truth in that.

Spare a thought for all the people (especially innocent civillains, moreso children) who died violent deaths for no reason apart from politicians winning votes and lining pockets.

That for me about covers it, innocent people get killed part and parcel. What ever British forces did or did not do all fine by me.
 
A lot of collective nonsense with the allegations all ready investigated by independent enquiries and the MOD. And found to be entirely false. Journalists are willing to pay money to poor desperate people for a story. Regardless of any evidence to substantiate or corroborate the claims independently.
 
Just to add as a thought if bin laden had tried to surrender Doubt it would have worked for him due to 9/11 among other things, as it was we are told shot on sight which saved so much hassle so basic execution.
Do not believe we would have been dumb enough to tie anybody then shoot, no matter who, could understand doing the catching and handing over to natives to please themselves. More bbc bollcks imo.

Do a little more research.

Bin Laden's family were in the USA when 9/11 happened and they were whisked off back to Saudi on the orders of George Bush Jr. , who also chose to ignore a report regarding the possibilty of the attacks.

'War Games' were happening on the day of 9/11, which is the official reason given when questions arise of the lack of fighter jet response.

My last word. Forty plus years ago I was taught this. The very words as below (or almost as near as I remember them).

"There are only two ways to defeat terrorism. You either remove the popular discontent that underpins it or you fight it with a greater counter terror."

Moving on from that "lesson" history showed this to be true in Ireland. In 1922 the use of "Black and Tans" and "Auxies" as a counter terror brought the Sinn Fein to the negotiating table (and use of his pwn counter terror later settled the Irish Civil War in De Valera's favour) and in more recent times the politics of "power sharing" and Blair's Good Friday Agreement was an attempt to remove that popular discontent. In Occupied Europe in WWII the Nazis again found that where they used counter terror resistance activity reduced or stopped.

It is however now the case that with the likes of the BBC and Panorama and the once very powerful "World in Action" on ITV that it would be impossible for a British Government to officially and openly approve and deploy "counter terror" as a response to the Taliban.

I do not know therefore if these alleged activities were therefore unofficially and covertly approved. If this was the case then the Government should at least now have the integrity to stand by those it asked to implement that policy. Sadly I expect that they will not be.
