Dsc1 northern Ireland

There are usually a few courses every year. Fieldsports training Ireland are running one on the 24th September in Draperstown

The BASC are also running one at the minute. 4 days long I'll have you know. Such a nonsense, 2 days long is a push for it even.

Aye they kinda have ye by the balls , 4 days is just trying to justify the dough, I'm on the fence with it tbh as getting a permission over here is next to zero , it really is **** place for hunting unless its rabbits and foxes.

4 days to shoot 9 shots at a 4" target and get tested on a couple of hundred pages of information. I think not! If you're doing it try to get a single day course and just spend a few nights reading the book. There are only so many questions they can ask.

Ill keep an eye out for the single day courses I can't see there being many of those 😫😫

You can generally book on as just an assessment. Turn up on the last day. Answer the questions, shoot the shot and keep the PSNI happy.

Ballypatrick forest near Ballycastle is hoaching with deer, reds, sika, fallow dont know about the other 3 though but don't suppose it'd matter much, I just want to fill the freezer .

There are some Muntjac on the Ards peninsula, rumours of the odd Roe kicking around too. Definitely no Chinese Water deer.

Check out your rifle clubs, I did mine in Tyrone over a day and a half at Dunnyboe?
I’d also ask if the PSNI why it has to be DSC, is HCAP not acceptable if you’re deer hunting is based in the lower 26 counties?

Cheers lad deer permission up here in the North is very hard to get 😫😫😫

There are people who have been granted a deer calibre without doing a DSC. It isn't legally required, but it's mentioned in the Guidance documents. Shooting organisations should be fighting that case for your membership fees rather than rolling over and offering a DSC.

Yeah I could get permission for feral goats and other varmints, don't fancy filing the freezer with them though 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤣🤣
