My Liz Truss lead letter via my MP

Thank you for the invitation for broader reflections on the issue of the proposals to prohibit lead shot.

I will reply at greater length if needed but hope, however, that the view of our new Prime Minister and the decision made in her attached letter to the former Head of BASC John Swift still holds?

I ask that you might enquire of the Prime Minister if, as I hope, she will now "bin" also these new proposals. Like Brexit a decision was made in 2016 and that should be an end to it!

Yet those who seek to ban lead are, yet again, asking once more the same question that as Environment Minister that Ms Truss has already rejected.

Please let me know your thoughts and, please, those of the Prime Minister.

As you know the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has been asked by the European Commission to gather information on the potential risks presented by metallic lead, to establish if there is a case for regulating its use within the European Union; we will keep the evidence presented by the ECHA under review.

Doubt she will stop it Enfield. She has already made a very big mistake and cost the party a lot of votes. What a fool to sack Johnny Mercer, about the only bloke to fight for those who put their lives on the line for their country. For the first time in 60 years and for the future I'll spoil my voting paper.

Lets not just give up, the impact on a total ban on lead will have a massive impact on the industry and shooting going forward.

As the HSE's looking at lead shot you can bet your bottom dollar they'll ban it no one will put their head on the block and say it's safe

I note also that the Deputy PM...Therese Coffey...has also "signalled and end to the nanny state". Lead shot in game is part of that same "nanny state" and the question needs to be asked as ever how many have been recorded by the NHS as having died or become ill IN THE UNITED KINGDOM THROUGH EATING GAME OR DEER OR PIGEONS AND ETC. SHOT WITH LEAD.

You are correct. And no I never expect she'll actually read it. Except that a log is taken of how many letters about X, how many about Y and so on. It is that log...there have been so many hundred or so many thousand writing about X or Y that the PM's staff do get made aware of. Numbers count.
