Tales from the "Dark Continent"...

Long time coming.

Booked in 2019, then 'you know what' hit, and put the world into 'pause mode'.

Fast forward, (actually it was felt very, very 'slow forward') and October 2022 finally arrives.

Flight bookings. Flight cancellations. Dates moved. Flights re-booked. Intermittent comms. with the PH.
Numerous emails. Visas, export licenses, notarising of documents, deposits paid, balances paid. Vaccinations. Medications. Anti-malaira (begun yesterday).

Packing. Weighing. Unpacking, discarding, repacking and then re-weighing.

Head shaved (don't ask) it makes keeping hygienic, easier.

On-line check in. Nightmare.

On-line "Drop off" fee. Nightmare and a scandal.

What more could go wrong?

And so, for what what will be, in all probability, our last...

If we make it back:- I look forward to reading all of your posts, about all of your hunting and stalking adventures.

Until then...

Well worth all the hassle and grief - just think of how royally you will be treated over there...

Which one? Malarone? Or the one that ****s you up in the head...but is cheap so the MoD anti-malarial of choice as despite the BS they don't actually give a damn about soldiers' wellbeing...Lariam?
Take Malarone for Malaria, if you catch it, they give you Malarone………reading the small print for such things along with the pin cushion feel you acquire when preparing to travel is enough to make you want to holiday in Skegness.

Enjoy!

Good luck! I have just returned from an amazing trip. Thankfully very few problems, Manchester Airport were great (after a little prompting from the brilliant Emirates check in staff), no major problems at Johannesburg either (mainly thanks to Afton Lodge - if Carlsberg made hotels...). After reading everything on here, I was fully expecting problems, but all went very smoothly and as you will know, Mozambique is beyond words, the most fantastic place I have ever been to - like the highlands but with a dozen different types of deer, warm weather and no midges with hilarious and knowledgeable PHs and very entertaining company in camp. I don't think I have ever laughed so much, eaten so well or learnt so much in a week. The only major problem I have now, is that I am totally addicted and can't wait to go back again.

I really hope your trip goes as well. Will be a bit different now the rains have started.

A bit too quiet at the moment from our intrepid Big Game Hunter........ Has he been sold into slavery by his favourite customs official, has he been eviscerated by an irate Duiker, is he still wandering aimlessly in the bush trying to find the bar? I've been looking forwards to the saga @Stalker1962 ......come on stop the suspense..... :tiphat:

I heard that he’d been captured by pirates and was being offered as a spot prize at the Organ Harvester’s annual gala dinner.
