High end high seats

Based on the Corsican high seat thread….what’s the best highseat/tower you have seen?

I saw one here that was trailer mounted, hydraulic lift/height adjustable and had a battery bank for running kettle/heaters etc!

Sam some in the states that were fully enclosed with proper windows and electrics.

I've always been jealous of the shed on legs in a wood I walk the dog in a lot. Looks like a 6x4 shed mounted on telegraph poles, staircase (not ladder) and drop down window/shelf on all four sides. I always wondered if that kind of investment in something so permanent is worth it when foxes and deer can just decide to not go in that direction for years on end, not exactly an easy pack 'n' move :-|

I would have to have something easily movable…but I guess there will always be deer and fox around most areas!

An Australian gent that my father worked for and who was huge into shooting had free standing swivelling high seats made, the problem was the foot bar for the seat was also part of the swivelling bit so when a shot was fired it would swivel slightly…and on a windy day apparently you could get up quite a spin if you let the wind catch you the right way…

A friend had this built. Drop down window, shooting bench big enough for two, assuming one right, and one lefty.

Gas heater, I thought it was a log burner at first 🙈

One downside, there’s f all to shoot where it is 🤦🏻‍♂️

If there is nothing to shoot it would just become an excellent "MAN CAVE" nobody would come chasing you there. What Peace!

You put a ladder seat up and study the area then if attractive enough you build the shooting box, although with shooting rights being so nebulous in the UK as here we do a lease for 9-12 years it might not be worth the aggro hence stalking by foot gets so much traction "sic".

Not technically a high seat, but the duck blinds some of those guys build in the USA are bigger and better funrished than my flat!

I’ve built a couple of these on the power line as it will never be planted
That’s a proper job….. I don’t have a huge amount of experience but there’s some lovely ones I’ve seen up at Oykel bridge, looks like the DMZ somewhere but without the wire….. all new, one every 300 yards it seems…..

I’ve got three from Keith’s high seats ( two for foxes on my shoot) But I’d always opt for moveable ones unless I was certain that there was always going to be deer in a location….

Called in to help an estate out many years ago. Eight rides laid out around a central clearing, spokes in a wheel with clearing the hub.
On a scaffolding tower,a wooden shiplap shed with opening slits to shoot through on all sides. Shuttered for less wind if you weren't shooting all around, only concentrating on a particular area. Benches around all walls, cushions to sit on. A real gentleman setup.
Needless to say, I shot more on foot in the actual timber than just guarding rides🤔

For years I’ve wanted to build a beautiful and stylish hightower out of top quality materials but never really had time to make it happen.
I don’t mean one with a television and microwave oven though. Just a practical and also aesthetically beautiful creation.
Maybe one day when good quality timber isn’t so expensive I’ll get something organised.

I am something of a compulsive high seat spotter when abroad and have a good deal of envy when I see some. The first two are from the south Tirol and the other is outside cabellas in Pennsylvania.

But closer to home; the cow shed at Selkirk has a beauty of a tower which I always forget to photograph when I’m there.

And my own effort, albeit more of a Kanzel than hoch Sitz. But roof timbers from a demolished house and some ‘first and lasts’ from a local sawmill. The box of long wood screws was probably the most expensive part of the job. But it’s warm and dry inside, with a swivelling office chair. And luckily the lads doing the restock didn’t use it as a dunny hut 🙂

I've built a few seats/ boxes/ towers , I'm repairing a few ( again) at the beginning of Dec , I'll take some pics ( I never do ) n post them , easy to do , but as someone said above the price of timber n tin sheets to cover the roofs is eye watering ,

I put one up a few weeks ago , not much change out of 250 notes for fixings n tanalised timber for a basic structure if you had to buy the materials ,( but built by a joiner/ me and they will last 10 years easy )

1200mm X 1200mm X 3.6m high , with a platform height of 1.8m , and roof height of 1.8m off the platform , built out of 4x2 , and marine ply, n painted with fence treatment

The cabelas ones were the ones I was referring to in my first post! Wish I had shipped a couple home!
