Gents, been trying to find a set of original tikka m55/m65 front/rear sights for ages but no luck sadly. I've enquired with items for sale on Guntrader to ask if they were willing to sell the sights off the gun(s), but never any replies

does anyone know
a. of any about?
b. if there are any other tikka or non-tikka iron sights that perfectly match the existing screw holes in the front/rear of the barrel?

thanks for any help if you can

Norm Clark will have some
I think I have some for a tikka 590/595
Or rifle craft have just re barrelled my mate M65 7mm RM

I may be wrong but I think that the original sights were bought in from the Williams Gun Sight Company. Drop them an email to see if that is correct and if so can they can still supply the originals.

Try Glenluce gunroom in south west Scotland. Lad has his own gunsmith and does a lot of work on various rifles. They may have a set. The shop is an Aladdin’s cave. Worth a shot.

I have a set from my M55 Deluxe but not sure at the moment where they will be. I may be able to take a quick look tomorrow.

Thanks but rather have the clap than go there ;)

Must be original - keenly awaiting to hear from Deermanagement above when he has time to look around

Alan Rhone are one of the most reliable suppliers and importers of quality parts.

If you are truly so committed to having iron sights, buy a rifle with them still on.

A barrel mounted rear sight isn't worth the hassle anyway.

We all have our views, leave it at that!

Have several with irons, and some with irons only. This is a restoration project to bring back to 'originality' where they were previously removed for no reason, not even to have a mod fitted, etc.

It will not be shot using the irons, but it will be to make it original again, plus, looks 10x better wearing irons than a bare barrel with filled screw holes.

barrel mounted rear sights are my favourite by miles, shoot springers, 22's, .224's, 6's, 7's, and 8's with them. Had aperture/peep sights and whilst I appreciate their popularity in the US, I'm a firm favourite and better shooter with the bead and wide V under 50yds, and slot + partridge style for longer range open sights, targets and practice. I shoot gongs for fun with .22lr with rear open sights to 225m, no issues at all.

Still waiting for proof pictures of all these iron sighted rifles you have...

here's a couple off the iphone camera scroll for now if it makes you feel better and more relaxed ;)
early remington 722 in .222. The best remington ever made - weaver rings being replaced shortly with weaver original 'pivot' rings and re-glassed weaver 4x to allow the scope to flip over the side to access the irons at free will.

one of the BRNO early Mod2's. steel buttplate, round target hood and rounded stock forend, short production, my favourite of all my rifles

8x57 type B pre war oberndorf sporter whilst it was being restored and new clawmount rings filed for existing bases. Wide V regulates 196g pills at zero at 50yds, 1cm low at 75 and 2.8cm low at 100.

I'll try and find more pics when I have time

Chaps

Whilst you are rummaging through your bins of old parts, I am still looking for a spare magazine for my .222 Tikka M55. I would prefer the flush three shot original version, but beggars cannot be choosers. Cash waiting!!
