Yahoo constantly changing and becoming browser

I like Google and have windows 11 - my browser (Google Chrome) has a blacked background opening page. Lately it has become all white and the Yahoo symbol appears in the search line. I cant get rid of it. I have set Google Chrome as default browser, deleted anything I can search for called Yahoo but it keeps coming back. I have been advised that Yahoo is easier to hack and I am very wary of anything which just pops up - I have an ad blocker but despite searching the web I cant find any foolproof way of banishing this blasted programme - anyone out there who can advise please ?
Thanks

Chrome maybe your default browser, but is it more that the home page, search engine and/or new page have been set to Yahoo, so that is what you are seeing? Might be worth checking Internet settings and looking for Yahoo under defaults / home page / new page settings.

I parted with Microsoft Windows Pcs and laptops years ago, and switched over to several Acer brand Chromebooks which come with ChromeOS installed.

Google Search is the default search engine on the cross-platform Chrome browser version. I don't know why Yahoo Search is appearing, but neither is secure. For anyone concerned about auto tracking, the best plan is to set the Home function page (or a bookmark) to a secure search engine website like StartPage. This can be customised to suit, and the settings saved . . . then use nothing else.
Cut and paste into the command line to see how it works. Alternatively, download the microsoft-based Tor bundle which has it's own super safe browser. There isn't a bundled version for Google Chrome, but I run Tor on my main chromebook in a partition under Linux.
