Farewell Alan, God bless. You certainly contributed a lot to this community. Condolences to family and close friends.

So very sorry to hear this.

Although I never met Alan face-to-face I read his posts with interest, as he was always very open and generous with his experience and advice.

Sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

I also very much enjoyed his posts. judging by many he was held in high regard my hopes for a brightening future to his family and friends - Gentlemen such as he was are rare and thus valued.
I lost my best friend to cancer recently so I cannot imagine what grief a husband and father's loss is.

It is with great sadness that I report the untimely passing of Alan Evans (aka @Alantoo) this morning, following a short battle with a very aggresive pancreatic cancer. Some may have noticed his reduced commenting on load development (especially copper) and Wordle posts as his illness progressed. Unfortunately, it is only in recent years that I became aquainted with Alan when he voluntered his garden and Magnetospeed to help me ascertain the balliastics of a new round to my preferred stalking rifle when FLS demanded factory-loaded copper ammunition; I deeply regret our paths did not pass sooner. A master blacksmith with many an interesting tale to tell, Alan was a gentlemen of the old school and an accomplished stalker. My thoughts are with his widow Lesley but I am heartened by the many friends who have rallied in recent weeks to help him as he stoically attended to as many of his affairs as possible.

RIP Alan

I have just googled Alan Evans, blacksmith If indeed he is Alan Robert Evans, he had a remarkable career, even making the New York Times when he was 37

Very sad to hear. Alan was a real gentleman. When I posted on here that I was looking for a spring for my Sako P94, he made me one and sent me a roll of wire, enough to make another dozen springs, for when that one snapped.
A gent and a craftsman. Sad to have never met him.
