ALANTOO - Sad News

It is odd that you can feel the loss of someone you have never actually met.

I think the above sums this dreadful news up best.

His posting was witty, thoughtful, and accurate. My ears will be forever grateful for your advice on the Peltor EEP's!

He was one of the SD's best for sure, and one imagines that he was undoubtedly one of lifes "good guys".

RIP Alan, I shall miss your input.

My most sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Jonno.

Pancreatic cancer can happen very quick. One of our fishing club members couldn't come because of stomach ache one day and was in hospital. Pancreatic cancer was diagnosed and he was given 6-8 months. The next day, they gave him 6-8 weeks. The next day, he died.

Life is a very fragile thing. Think about that, and don't put off doing things you want to do until next week, next month or next year.
I get the impression that Alan lived life to the full, and will be well remembered for his achievements.

It is with great sadness that I report the untimely passing of Alan Evans (aka @Alantoo) this morning, following a short battle with a very aggresive pancreatic cancer. Some may have noticed his reduced commenting on load development (especially copper) and Wordle posts as his illness progressed. Unfortunately, it is only in recent years that I became aquainted with Alan when he voluntered his garden and Magnetospeed to help me ascertain the balliastics of a new round to my preferred stalking rifle when FLS demanded factory-loaded copper ammunition; I deeply regret our paths did not pass sooner. A master blacksmith with many an interesting tale to tell, Alan was a gentlemen of the old school and an accomplished stalker. My thoughts are with his widow Lesley but I am heartened by the many friends who have rallied in recent weeks to help him as he stoically attended to as many of his affairs as possible.

RIP Alan
