Sauer 202 Barrel Change

I have a Sauer 202 Outback with a fluted 6.5x55 barrel. I do not have the choice of a barrel change to 7.08 in this model. However, the 101 model does have the 7.08 barrel and uses what looks like the same system. Both a medium standard class barrels. Question is, will it fit my outback ?

Lothar Walther make 202 barrels so send them an email and ask if they'll do you a 7mm profiled blank. Just quickly looking the price codes for the .30cal one seem around 250-290 euros to give you an idea

They only deal with trade - or used to

A chambered barrel with extension is likely to be around 650 upwards when I last checked (early 2022)

The change from 6.5x55 to 7mm08 , 243, 308 etc needs a different bolt unless you get the barrel and adaptor to fit the 6 lug bolt the 6.5x55 / 270 / 30-06 etc group uses

I don’t think so different mag but I shoot 6.5x55 and .308 with same bolt. 7.08 has the same head as .308. I have a .308 barrel for sale at a good price with fancy mod if your interested

Schultz and Larsen also make barrels for the Sauer 202. I have two here, one in
25-06 and the one in the photos chambered for 6.5x55.

Oh ok, I was just going by the bolt categories in my manual. Good that there is more compatibility than I thought.

I think there are two bolts magnum and non magnum? Anyway I can guarantee that 308 and 6.5x55 work with the same bolt and different mag

223, 22/250 and 243 use a bolt with only 3 locking lugs
308 uses a 6 lug bolt as do 6.5x55, 7x64, 25-06, 270, 30/06,8x57 and 9.3x62
I’ve only seen barrel adapters for the 6 lug bolts
Possible to make an adapter out of a shot out barrel though, how cost effective that would be is the question

The magazine for the 308 is medium short - this would be the one for a potential 7mm -08. The 6.5s all use the medium. Another cost to bear in mind.

hi BBRC just looking to confirm that if i have a sauer 202 currently in .223 that a 22-250 barrel would work with the current bolt. my .223 barrel has become very pitted and as an option i was trying to get a second hand .223 barrel or if the 22-250 would fit the bolt i would consider that option as well.
