Camouflage for rifles and scopes etc

PJM, i will pass as i think the cammo will make me look too much like a poacher to the untrained eye and i think like all things valuable should be kept as standard... my gun dealer said he wouldn't take anything cammo in a part-ex as he can't see the use it has had under the paint.. would you buy a Rolls Royce that has been wrapped?

I am thankful you have taken the time to read and look at pictures, you have already stated on previous posts you would not have your set up sprayed but many do. You can have spray removed as I have tested without damage to rifle. So if you can afford a roller (dont think so)go buy one and I will spray it for you....

as far as your dealer is concerned it is yet again personal prefrence.

PJM... Don't please assume what i can or can't afford as i have over £100,000 worth of silly cars on my driveway but i ain't rich enough to take the risk of having my rifle devalued which this will do and restrict the future re-saleability.. so in the words of the Dragons, I'M OUT!!

Would love to tell you the paint but well SSHHHH its a secret

I see that you want to keep your process secret, fair enough as you are no doubt afraid that somebody else will find out what you are using and just under cut you I guess.:?: The problem is that there are already some excellent firearms protective coatings out there, in the main from US based companies, these products in some cases were developed for the military and have therefore been tested in some of the most inhospitable environments. The companies that developed them are big companies with a proven track record with thousands of uses worldwide. With this of cause comes proper R&D. There are 4 companies in the UK that that are offering firearms coatings, all have been in business a number of years with reputations to uphold, two are authorised appliers of the finishes they retail, this includes proper training by the overseas manufactures of the coatings.

Now considering that a rifle and scope is worth in many case well into 4 figure sums, what would you say to convince the enthusiastic rifle user to use your service over one of the others:?:

I do agree there are company's out there that have developed this over the years bu nothing in my area. The products you are talking about do you not think I have researched this. As far as tested I know only too well about the environment. How do you think I know about them. Going back to the other company's I think you will find some offer a dip some spray. I offer a custom hand spray finish.

Hope thin offers answers to your questions

Thanks for replying to my thread and sharing your wisdom.

I still do not see what you are trying to offer that is not already available from another long established company using a proven product, 3 of the others offer custom hand spray coatings, what is your USP:?: Why would a customer come to you and not another company:?:

Question gents why would you wish to paint a rifle ,this is purely out of interest not antagonistic in any shape or form .

It appears this thread has been moderated heavily! The reason I Cerakoted mine was for protection. It wears incredibly well.

It is as simple as.

If people prefer the finish and standard of my work. They will be happy for me to do the work. So far this has been the case, and I anticipate that this will continue.

Think it has to be appreciated that not all can afford a luxurious set up and spraying is the cheaper option to having it all stripped and re varnished. Also like mentioned it gives good protection.

Also maybe for the virmin side and the smaller calibers where the quarry is at closer range it provides more stealth to the approach. I have done .22 .17 & 222 and more to do.

I know not all would like to deface a nice set up with paint. I myself would NOT spray some of my set ups.

Think it boils down to how happy you are with what you have, and what you prefer.

Not being funny but ive been doing "custom hand sprayed finishes" for about 5 years now and I would say the work we turn out is second to none. However the firearms side is nothing compared to the other finishes we do it has actually become quite a smaller market in comparison but it still keeps rolling in.

Ive done 100s of rifles, stocks scopes and accessories using tried and tested products...now theres something on the market thats top secret? Interesting.

Glad I am not the only one doing this Kind of thing.

I am also interested in all custom spray finishes. I just find it is nice personal touch. Like marmite. Some love some hate.

Do you have pictures to post as interested.

Good to here from someone else with same interest.

Here's a couple of pictures of one of my rifles. Done by hand using the same paint my wife was using to touch up some garden ornaments.
The colour scheme looks similar to the back of the friendly Toad we have living in our garden. It shoots a lot gooder now it's been painted and I know nobody would want to steal it, would they :D

:!:.EmcC, I am stumped for things to say.
Brilliant, Fantastic, Nutter, Yuk ! are a few things I've heard but then I think the people that say such things are really just jealous and wish they had my flare
As for you, Singing Stalker ;) you are 'refrained' because you would run out of words of praise once you started :D :D
The stock was originally off of a Remmy VLS with the big beaver fore end. I smoothed away the Beaver bit and brought it into line with a normal stock.
Had it glass and pillar bedded and gert chunks cut out of the side to take a magazine.
I didn't like the magazine, afraid of loosing it and too 'clunkety click'.
So filled the magazine 'cut outs' with Devcon, which did not look nice with the laminated stock, painted the whole thing with duracoat paint and now have this master peice :-D shoots better too ;)
