This question comes about thirty minutes too late really.

Has anyone got them?

Has anyone used them?

Did they improve your life?

I have just ordered three sets from the USA, in:-

.308
.243
.303

I fully expect them to change my life for the better - and lets face it, it needs to...
 
I don't have them. I am definitely of the school of use as little kit as possible.

When I start a batch of reloading, I do quite a few 'test chamberings' of unloaded cases to see what the bolt feels like Once when un-sized, again when full length sized
 
I'll be ordering some but they'll be with a chamber and throat reamer to rebarrel my rifle. I can't imagine I'll need them again until I need to do the barrel again

Yes, have used both .308 and .223 before, both borrowed from generous forum members.

Sorry to say, but you've spent some unnecessary money again, as the .308 gauge would have worked in the .243 and vice versa.

The Americans are probably measuring to SAAMI specs instead of C.I.P, so they won't be the same.

You are measuring to a datum line on the shoulder. Found use for a 'No Go' as a rifle was sold to me had excess headspace. Another had insufficient (would not close on a 'Go'). Both carried rubber stamp proof marks... so much for being a standard... :worried:

Just remember to remove your ejector (if you have one) before using them, as they can give a false reading or eject your expensive gauge by accident (both were lent to me with the condition of this being done beforehand).

Unless you have a rifle with problems closing the bolt or extracting fired cases, not much point really (much like measuring other things... :norty: )

But now you've made it known that you have them, you'll make friends... :love:

If that is true, then really...FFS!

When they arrive (it will be about six weeks) I will measure both sets - I very much hope to see a difference...

I am a lonely man...so it will have been worth every penny...every 24,450 of them...😖

Wonder if I will have to take out 'Trade Membership' to hire them out to SD members?

Fairly sure there is a 15% cancellation fee in order to do so.

If @caberslash is correct (and I fear my may be) then it is my own stupid fault, and I have no one else to blame.

I will just have to put these on...

Why would you want to check the chamber on your rifles if you haven't got the kit to do anything with that information. My mates got a police pension, without them economies would collapse!

OK.

So just fired off an email to the US.

If the .243w and .308w are identical, I have asked them to change the .243w to 6.5CM (so 'future proofing' my happiness).

I have also asked them to clarify whether or not I do need (interesting use of that word), SAMMI or CIP.
 
I had to get my rifle "inspected" when I worked for the deer commission. I was informed that as it closed on a no go guage, it was knackered. I then spoke to the gunsmith who built my rifle who said "oh, his guage is worn, bring it up and I'll fix it." 2 thou off the chamber end in the lathe and all was well. Caveat emptor...

Have you along with your order prepared a post detailing how you managed to get one or both stuck...
My best qualified opinion as a time served tool maker is to cancel the order or buy a length of 6mm brass rod to tap them out. :rolleyes:
