New to stalking, just booked my DSC1...

Hi,

I am new on here! Just stumbled onto here after googling the difference between the PDS1 and the DSC1. Looks like a great forum, with some people who know a lot more about stalking than me.

I have recently booked my DSC1 course with a friend. He has a lot of experience with fox control, and already has his FAC. I have zero rifle experience, but you have to start somewhere! I have a day booked tomorrow where I will gain some hands of rifle experience at the range/farm where my DSC1 is being held. This will be with the estate rifle. My intention is to do this every other weekend in the run up to the DSC1, which is booked for mid-June.

I am a beater on my local pheasant shoot, and have a big Labrador/donkey called Harry. I want to learn more about deerstalking, and eventually obtain my FAC. So I am hoping this site will be a good resource. I also run a online retailer selling country clothing, so have some decent exposure to that side of the industry every day.

I live on the Cheshire/Derbyshire border, on the edge of the Peak District.

Nice to meet you all!

Welcome MJ.

I went into my DSC1 with little experience. Passed, but did have to resit the shooting element.

I found the book they gave me, absolutely awful. Useless black and white pictures, just wall after wall of text.

I signed up to both the BDS online learning, and DSCtraining.org

BDS training was really good, but the mock tests on DSCtraining were better.

That is really helpful, thank you.
