Had my first night out with the thermal last night .
What an utter game changer !!
Anyhoo. Walked a few with the air rifle before dark then hit a troublesome field once it was dark with the HIK micro stellar.
Amazing piece of kit, end of play saw just over 70 shot for the day.
A few were scrawny myxi survivors and all went into a ditch , none kept.
The healthy ones were still tiny.
Then onto the night shooting.
Only drawback was , as I’m shooting on my own, when I use a lamp, I shoot a few the pick up a few etc repeat all night.
With the thermal I stand still and kill everything in a 50 mtr radius so picking up is a nightmare as the grass is longer and you can’t actually find the sods.
This meant. 6am walk round to collect. This then meant that this lot aren’t for the game dealer which is annoying as hell, but hey ho.
Anyone on the fence about thermal, go for it.
I have a crappy right eye so was starting I struggle picking out targets on the lamp, the HIK is going to keep me able to night shoot for a long time yet. And it’s superb through the day as well.
I have it set up for the 22lr and a second reticule set up for the 22wmr. Changing between guns is easy as hell.
